Remote MBA Program “Wine Business Management” for Working Professionals

With its Wine Business Management program, Hochschule Geisenheim University offers managers and professionals employed in the wine industry the opportunity to gain a degree in parallel to their careers. The German-language program comprises twelve modules spread out over four semesters. Participants will benefit from a diverse mix of private studies, face-to-face sessions as well as written and virtual teaching modules. During each of the four semesters they will spend six to eight days at Hochschule Geisenheim University – Fridays and Saturdays – to attend face-to-face classes which enables them to consolidate their knowledge and put it into practice. Interested professionals may also take single modules for targeted career development.

The program focuses on business management topics including marketing, personnel management, tax-related issues and financial reporting. In addition, it addresses current topics in viticulture and enolgy such as digitization in the wine industry and innovative strategies in viticulture.

Wine Business (M.Sc.)

The M.Sc. Wine Business program is designed for graduates holding a bachelor’s degree in wine who wish to qualify for management positions in the wine industry. Master’s students gain an in-depth knowledge of economics (similar to programs in business management and engineering) in the core modules Corporate Governance, Market Theory, Strategic Management and Wine Market Research. They enhance their academic profiles by choosing additional modules such as IT Systems in the Wine Industry, Energy and the Environment, Empirical Research Methods in Food Marketing or Nutrition Communication.

This degree program is taught in German.

International Wine Business (B.Sc.)

Are you equally fascinated by marketing and business as well as the art of winemaking? Our English-language version of the B.Sc. International Wine Business program is the right choice for you.

The program is a perfect blend of economics and essential winegrowing and winemaking skills. It includes practical projects, expert lectures, excursions and hands-on training which qualifies our graduates for various positions in the wine industry.

The practically-oriented education at Hochschule Geisenheim University enjoys an outstanding reputation worldwide, and the university's wide-ranging network enables our students to gain experience abroad, either in a study-exchange program, or in an internship.

Around two thirds of the modules in the program are compulsory. The first year builds the foundation for the rest of the degree program, with modules such as Business Operations and Economics, Marketing Basics, Law, Sensory Evaluation as well as World Wine Markets.

Second year compulsory modules include Wine & Beverage Marketing, Marketing Projects, Business Management, Management Accounting, Viticulture and Enology.

Students can additionally choose from over 30 semi-compulsory and optional modules, thus strengthening their own professional profile:

Modules such as Investment & Corporate Finance or Business Plan prepare students for a career in Company Management and Controlling.
Students who are interested in a career in Marketing can choose modules in E-Commerce or Market Research.
A focus on International Markets is backed up by a wide range of country-related marketing projects as well as Business & Technical Language Courses.
The program also includes a practical component which covers at least 12 weeks. Between the 4th and the 5th semester, students can choose to go abroad or gain hands-on experience working in an international company in Germany.
