The Red Miller- IWC Gold Winner - A first for an English Red Wine
We are proud to announce that our newest release, The Red Miller has been awarded a gold medal by the International Wine Challenge (IWC). This is the first time in the competitions 36 year history that an English Red wine has received this prestigious accolade. The IWC is accepted as the Worlds most rigorous, impartial and influential wine competition, with each wine being assessed blind by a team of over 200 of the Worlds top wine experts. The limited-edition red is made with 100% Pinot Meunier- a grape rarely seen as the sole component within a still red wine, and was produced by Owen Elias for our Winemakers Collection. IWC competition director Chris Ashton says “Were thrilled to be able to award England its first IWC Gold medal for a red wine. England has been gaining attention for its sparkling wines for some time, so its great to see a broader range of wines on the radar.”
Crafting award-winning wines since 2002, we are Balfour Hush Heath Estate; proudly family-owned and family-run.
As one of the most established English wineries, weve enjoyed wide acclaim over the years for our ever-growing range of wines and ciders, and our flagship wine, Balfour Brut Rosé, hailed as “Englands most exclusive pink fizz”.
We pride ourselves on growing all our own fruit from the 85 acres of vineyards on the Hush Heath Estate and processing it all on site, from grape to bottle, at our state-of-the-art winery. With our contemporary, world-class cellar door and visitor centre, we invite guests to come and share our passion, and enjoy a wine experience like no other in England.
Since 2002, Balfour Hush Heath Estate have been at the heart of the growing English Wine industry- winning National and International awards, and the acclaim of sommeliers and wine experts, to become one of England's most respected wine producers.
We have been at the forefront of the growing English Wine movement with our flagship sparkling Balfour Brut Rosé being the first English Sparkling wine to be served in BA First Class and the official English wine of the London 2012 Olympics.
Today our sparkling and still wines are enjoyed across the globe in some of the World's finest restaurants and bars.
