Medrano Irazu Winery is family-owned, founded by Luis Medrano in 1984. One year later its first wine, a young wine, hit the markets.
In 2001 his son, Amador, took over from his father, bringing new ideas with him, and he began to produce aged and white wines, along with author wines, by which we refer to wines that have been created according to the Amadors own guidelines and criteria and achieving the highest of qualities.
In 2008, Amador analyzes its vineyards, finding that the highest altitude produce less production but a notable difference in quality. It is when Amador selects these parcels located at the bottom of Sierra Cantabria beginning to make wines individually, wich used these wines to highlight their main crianzas. In 2014 he decides to use this concept of elaboration striving more of the time of its care and harvest building the new idea of "Amador Medrano" project as Single Vineyard. In 2017 he launches the first vintage of "Amador Medrano"
