BEAUJOLAIS ORIGINE 2018

The wine is emblematic of the estate where, from 1986, we wanted to bring back the Beaujolais of yesteryear. This cuvee is crafted to pure Beaujolais tradition: it does its Easter duty in big oak tuns, is fined using egg white, it is not chaptalized and undergoes only the lightest of filtering. The lively, intense fruitiness is very close to the grape itself. Concentration and freshness in the mouth make this a Beaujolais with character.

BEAUJOLAIS COEUR DE VENDANGES 2018

A rather rare and atypical cuvee for a Beaujolais. Pierre-Marie chooses a rich and powerful cuvee of wine made using the grapes from old vines and matures it in oak until the April following the harvest. The subtle wooded notes intermingle with very ripe red and black fruit. The mouthfeel is long and suave. A delight!

BEAUJOLAIS BLANC 2018

White Beaujolais remains little-known and is a great wine to surprise and impress your friends with. This Chardonnay is a rarity to discover. Wonderful round, rich and tatty, it delicately coats your taste buds. The aromatic complexity is due to the 3 different terroirs it comes from. This is a really easy Chardonnay to serve from the aperitif through starts, fish and white meat to goat’s cheese. It also has a few surprises in store in 3 to 4 years hence.

Very well sited (South-West facing) and harvested at full ripeness, the grapes from these vines give a concentrated cuvée. The result, in the mouth, is dense and long, foretelling of really good cellaring potential. The fruit is intense, lively and “sappy”. A cuvée worthy of being called “Queen of Beaujolais”!

MOULIN A VENT LES TROIS ROCHES 2018

Moulin à Vent is called King of Beaujolais. This is the Cru with the longest cellaring potential and which is closest to its Burgundian neighours. As it ages, it is sometimes said to “pinote”. This cuvée is the expression of the alliance between finesse and power. The aromatic palate is wide, going from very ripe small red berries through spice to mineral notes. The three different plots of vines we use for this cuvée give a wine that is full and balanced: Rochegrès give finesse, Roche Noire liveliness and fruit while La Rochelle contributes power.

About us

Company details

Domaine Chermette is a family-run wine estate. The estate is in the Pierres Dorées golden stone area, in Southern Beaujolais. Pierre-Marie, Martine and Jean-Etienne Chermette make red, rose and white Beaujolais. Most of their Beaujolais wines are produced from old vines, including Beaujolais primeur. The estate also produces festive products, like a Cremant de Bourgogne and a Cremant Brut Rose. They are perfect with the vine peach and ginger liqueur or with the Blackcurrant cream to get a kir royal.

In the north of the Beaujolais area, Pierre-Marie and Jean-Etienne Chermette produce Brouilly, Fleurie Poncié, Fleurie les Garants and Moulin à Vent, and our last born, Saint-Amour.

Both in tending the vines and in vinification, Pierre-Marie and Jean-Etienne intervene as little as possible and develops the following methods : integrated agriculture, manual harvests, successive sorting of the grapes, no use of chemically produced yeasts to retain the natural yeasts. They make wine using semi-carbonic vinification. This is the traditional Beaujolais vinification method.

« We then obten a perfectly ripe and healthy grape so we can make really natural wine. We use this method because it is perfectly adapted to the Gamay grape and our terroir. »
