LAGAR DO DÃO RESERVA RED 2015

 VINIFICATION
Handpicked into small boxes. Manual selection of bunches on the sorting table. Complete stalk removal followed by gentle crushing. Spontaneous co-fermentation in open tread granite tanks (lagares), with smooth daily pigeage or pumping over. Post-fermentation maceration.
 GRAPES VARIETIES
Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Jaen, Alfocheiro.
 MATURATION
Aged in 5000 ltrs cement vats for 12 months.
 CHEMICAL ANALYSES
Alcohol: 13,5%
Total Acidity: 5,5 gr/l
PH: 3,66
Reducing Sugar: 1,6 gr/l

Its personality and complexity results from the climatic conditions, the selection of the best estate grapes and the creativity of our winemaker. Soils are granite dominated sands. Between elevation and river driven humidity, Dao’s wide diurnal temperature shifts (20º+) ensure both white and red wines are endowed ample natural acidity. Dao wines are renowned throughout Portugal for their “freshness”. Average age of vines: 9 years.

 VINIFICATION
Manual harvest into small boxes. Manual selection of the clusters on the sorting table. Complete stalk removal followed by gentle crushing. Pressing. Cold static decantation for 24 hours. Co-fermentation: Cement vats with temperature control between 15ºC and 20ºC.
 GRAPES VARIETIES
Encruzado, Malvasia Fina, Cerceal, Bical, Verdelho.
 MATURATION
Aging on ne lees with regular batonnage until mid-May.
 CHEMICAL ANALYSES

Company details

The origin of this wine was born of a love story between the man and the land. The protagonist of this “romance” is the Dão, one of the oldest Protected Designation of Origin regions in Portugal’s wine growing history.
