Vylyan Ördög Cuvée 2017

ÖRDÖG is the blend of local varieties in the classicus product range, named after the Devil in love in the traditional Villány legend. It is not the finesse, but the liveliness that makes it popular.

This blend of local varieties is best characterised by its chewy, meaty, attracting structure. The ripe fruitiness evokes the notes of blueberry and blackberry, while the spiciness reflects notes of clove and cardamom. In the aftertaste the taste and texture reminiscent of cocoa powder also appear.

GRAPE VARIETIES:
Kékfrankos/Blaufränkisch 47%, Zweigelt 27%, Merlot 13%, Syrah 13%

VINIFICATION-MATURATION

Each grape variety was processed and vinified separately, after careful separation. After fermentation wines are matured in large older barrels (50%), older barrique barrels (30% – made of Zemplén and Mecsek oak) and tanks (20%) for one year, followed by the blending of each of them.

ALCOHOL: 13,26 %

CONSUME AT: 15-16 ˚C

Vylyan REDy 2018

The local wine-makers created a brand new brand that highlights the easy-going and smiling face of Villány wine region. REDy is the latest community bistro wine or perfect party wine for the Y-generation what’s light bodied and fruity & also does promise a lot of fun and party while still being exciting and just cool. It’s just like its makers: the young and forever-young winemakers of Villány. REDy is a portugieser-based blend that can have other local variates of Villány.

GRAPE VARIETIES
Portugieser 51%, Kékfrankos/Blaufränkisch 29%, Zweigelt 20%

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
The accent is on fruitiness; in practice it means maceration on the skin was shorter, 13-14 days at a temperature of 28-30°C. Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks and aging took place in 6000 l oak barrels and stainless steel tanks.

ALCOHOL: 12,5 %

CONSUME AT: 12-15 ˚C

Vylyan Kékfrankos / Blaufränkisch 2016

One of our most popular wines is this Blaufränkisch or Kékfrankos. It shows the unique character of the variety in an honest and pure manner, creating a powerful and lively wine with the typically vivid acidity. This is why we love it.
The freshly poured wine brings about a bouquet of lustful and spicy scents. In the mouth this is complemented by the fruitiness of black cherry and rosehip, as well as the bitter aromas of dark chocolate.  Its elegance shows through lively acids.

Kékfrankos / Blaufränkisch

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
Open-tank fermentation with two brief pumpings over each day. It was kept with the grape skins for two weeks and fermented for 10 days.Matured in 225-litre Hungarian oak barrels with the ages: one-third new, one-third one and two-year-old, one-third older. The wine was bottled after 12-month ageing in barrels.

Alcohol: 12.94 %

Consume at 16-17 °C

Vylyan Montenouvo Cuvée 2016

Noble wine named after Duke Montenuovo Nandor, who owned parts of our vineyards at the beginning of the 20th century.
This wine is a well balanced blend with a golden mean between the full-bodied and the lively-fruity styles. Its bright, fruity upbeat is filled with diverse scents in which bourdeaux varieties come together in a harmonising accord completed with spiciness of the syrah.
It’s complexity makes it a good match with many kinds of dishes, thus a favourite of the best restaurants.

GRAPE VARIETIES
Merlot 43 %, Zweigelt 36%, Kékfrankos/Blaufränkisch 21%

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
The varieties and slopes were vinificated separately. Maceration on the skin lasted for 14 to 25 days. Extraction of the grape by open and later closed pumping over. The malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in barrels for 15-20 months. Barrels are made out of Hungarian oak: 80% in 225 l barrels, 20% in 6000 l casks. After blending the cuvee we matured it in steel tanks.

ALCOHOL: 13,56 %

Vylyan Villányi Franc 2016

We are sure that the Villanyi Franc has a mission in the world. For us this wine represents the highest complexity that can be achieved from the Villany grapes.The variety has set its roots in the Villany soil and has found its home here forever. As have we.
According to the renewed Villány appellation control system, “Villányi Franc” apellation is a carefully selected 100% cabernet franc – the flagship brand of the wine region.As Michael Broadbent says, “Cabernet Franc has found its natural home in Villány.”
Villányi Franc is the embodiment of elegance and harmony.

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
The harvest was during the cooler October, so we applied cold maceration in the beginning, to enchance fruitiness. Maceration on the skin took place in closed vats and lasted for 25 days, on 26 – 28°C. For extraction first we used opened and after closed pumping over. Malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in barrels. Barrels: 225 l made out of Hungarian oak from Zemplen and Mecsek wood. Age: 30 % new, 40% 1 – 2 year old, 30% older. The wine was bottled after 13 months of further ageing.

ALCOHOL: 13,64 %

CONSUME AT: 16-17 °C

Vylyan Duennium 2012

DUENNIUM is the ’flagship’ of Vylyan – produced only in the best vintagesfrom carefully selected grapes of the best vineyards.
This wine has an explicit, upstanding and balanced structure with ripe tannins, vital acidity and velvety texture. The aromas are intense and complex with notes of ripe but lively black sour cherry, hip, cranberry, cinnamon and vanilla notes. The palate is deep with a long-lasting finish. This wine is a delicate experience, an extension of the moment.

Cabernet Franc 67%, Cabernet Sauvignon 22%, Syrah 11%

VINIFICATION-MATURATION
Duennium is blended from the most beautiful wines of our ‘Bordeaux’ grape varieties.
The concentrated and mature grapes were macerated long. The malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in 225 litre Hungarian oak barrels of mixed age (50 % new, 50 % 1 year old). The wine was aged first for 17 months when the lots with the most character were selected and blended. The process continued with 1 more year of ageing in 6000 litre wooden casks before the wine was eventually bottled.

About us

Company details

The Vylyan estate is located in the Villány Wine Region, the most famous Hungarian red wine producing area. This land has the highest sunshine duration in the country. The east-west orientation of the Mecsek mountain range protects it from cool northern winds. The loess and clay topsoil on the limestone bedrock is absolutely ideal for viniculture. The wines made here unmistakably bear the typical Villány characteristics.

In addition to special characteristics of the terroir, the most important factor is still the Vylyan staff. The commitment, knowledge and hard work of this team makes the wines unmistakably Vylyan.

The estate was founded in 1992 by Pál Debreczeni. We have started planting the vineyards also in this year. We currently manage 120 hectares of land. Our vineyards face south or south-east at a density of 7,000 vines/hectare, in order to make sure that rich grapes can be harvested. We typically only process our own grapes, which plays a key role in ensuring that we are responsible for the quality of our wines, from the very beginning. Fine wines require excellent grapes.

The centre of our estate has been established on Fekete-hegy in the village of Kisharsány, at the heart of our vineyards, reflecting our bond to the vineyards. We await wine-loving guests with our own kitchen and restaurant, a Mediterranean-style terrace, and plenty of cultural and gastronomy events and programmes.

Our vineyards feature both autochthonous and international varieties. Such varieties include Riesling, Olaszrizling, Chardonnay, Csókaszőlő, Portugieser, Zweigelt, Pinot Noir, Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.

Our winemaking focuses on the character of the grapes and the vintage, there are no unchanged “recipes”.
