Fine Assyrtiko & Malagousia

Varietal composition: Asyrtiko 90%  Μalagouzia 10%

Location of vineyard: Avdira Xanthi, Thrace, Greece

Position: forest, coordinates: 40.979282,  24.910891

Vineyard: Organic, self-owned and able to produce 400-500 kilos per acre.

Ground: Sandy hills with 5 kilometres distance from the sea

Climate: Mediterranean with East winds, warm winds and day to night temperature difference 13-15 Celcius

Harvest: by hand in small baskets     Malagouzia   25-30/09  , Αsyrtiko  15-20/09

Vinification technique: re-fermentation at low temperature and fermentation in oak barrels of 225 liters openly with indigenous yeasts, long fermentation at controlled temperature. Maturing with lees for six months in French oak barrels.  It is being bottled unfiltered and without any other treatment.

Alcohol level & characteristics: alcoholic strength: 14 %  vol, Acidity: 5,3 g/l,  Sulfurs: 34 mg/l, Sugars 1,5  g/l,  PH: 3,45

 

Description: Gold and blonde colour with green highlights discreet presence barrel with elegant aromas of vanilla and butter intense and complex bouquet of citrus, quince, honeycomb and as dematerializes releases flowers and yellow fruits.

Rich mouth, fruit and barrel in harmony with perfect balance of flavour and very good oil acidity and persistent course.

Twenty minutes before enjoying the Fine Assyrtiko - Malagouzia put the wine in loose carafe (Decanting), the difference will pleasantly surprise you ...!

Malagousia Wild

Varietal composition:  Malagouzia 99%- Assyrtiko 1%

Location of vineyard: Avdira Xanthi, Thrace, Greece

Vineyard: Organic, self-owned and able to produce 400-500 kilos per acre.

Ground: Sandy hills with 5 kilometers distance from the sea

Climate: Mediterranean with East winds, warm winds and day to night temperature difference 13-15 Celcius

Harvest : by hand in small baskets   25-30/08

Vinification technique: low temperature pre-humidification and fermentation in domestic yeast at controlled temperature. Maturation with fine mud and periodic stirring. for 5 months. Stay 1/3 for three months in French oak barrels.
It is not filtered and does not undergo any treatment before bottling.
 
Alcohol level & characteristics: alcoholic strength::12,5 %  vol, Total acidity: 5,9 g/l,  Total sulfite: 125 mg/l, Reducing sugars: 2,5  g/l,  PH: 3,17

Organoleptic characteristics: Golden-red colour with green shades. Mature, dense nose, with a particularly strong element of the Mediterranean herbs, the chamomile the basil and the mint. Yellow fruit, white and yellow flowers roasted lemon passion fruit nectarine spicy white spices with granite note makes it complicated. A pungent mouth with excellent flavour balance and very good acidity, greasiness, courage and persistence, ranked it in gourmet wines. 

Serving suggestions: Sea shells, oily fish, seafood, white meats, pork, Mediterranean cuisine, pasta, salads, fresh cheeses.

Varietal composition: Mavroudi Thrace 60% Assyrtiko 40%

 Location of vineyard: Avdira Xanthi, Thrace, Greece

Position: forest, coordinates: 40.979282,  24.910891

Vineyard: biological, rain-fed, proprietary linear, area yield 400-500 pounds per acre, 5 km from the sea.

Ground: sandy hills of loose granite rocky subsoil at a depth of 70-80 cm.

Climate: Mediterranean with East winds, warm winds and day to night temperature difference 13-15 Celcius.

Harvest: by hand in small baskets. Mavroudi  20-09, Asyrtiko 20-09

Vinification technique: vinification with pre fermentative cryo-extraction for a few hours,skin contact for two hours, fermentation at controlled temperature and maturation in tank on fine lees with regular stirring.

Alcohol level & characteristics: alcoholic strength: 13.5% vol, Total acidity: 6.2 g / l, Total sulfite: 105 mg / l Reducing sugars: 2 g / l, PH: 3.25

Organoleptic characteristics: with color palette in light salmon with aromas of small red fruit Strawberries, blueberries, cherries, cherry from Mavroudi Thrace .The minerality of Assyrtiko citrus and character potential manifesting generous in the mouth with crisp acidity, complex and exuberant aftertaste.

Serving suggestions: Accompanies seafood, raw oysters, sushi, fatty fish, pasta, white meat, red meat with light sauces, lamb, mushrooms, cheese.

Vinification technique:  Long fermentation with amphora grape marc with native yeast and ripening amphora with marc for 270 days without sulfur. There is no treatment and it is not filtered.

Alcohol level & characteristics: 14,3 %  vol, Acidity: 6,2 g/l,  Sulfurs:  43 mg/l, Sugars:3  g/l,  PH: 3,26, volatile Acidity: 0,43

Description: rich and generous with amber colour, earthy and complex with nuts aromas such as nut and roasted almonds, dried fruits, citrus jams, acacia honey, tea and spices. Gentle tannins, balanced acidity, complex and exuberant aftertaste.

 

Serving suggestions: Try it with seafood, raw shells, sushi, smoked fish, roe, fatty fish, red meats, lamb, sweet, hunting, wild mushrooms, truffles, cheeses and cured meats and wine-killers. Enjoy it at 12-14 ° C after decay in carafe.

Description: This wine has a shiny red purple colour, while in the nose it starts
with discreet aromas and while it develops it releases a bouquet of ripe red and black fruits, dry plum and fig, pine tree honey, coffee, cacao, roasted almonds. It offers kind tannins, balanced acidity, fruity aromas and complex aftertaste. 

Aging potential: 5-7 years   

 Serving temperature: 18 degrees Celsius

Varietal Composition: Mavroudi Thrace 50% Assyrtiko 40%, 10% Moschato

Vineyard: biological, rain-fed, linear owned, away from the sea 5 km. area yield 400-500 pounds per acre 5 km from the sea.

Soil: sandy hills of loose granite rocky subsoil at a depth of 70-80 cm.

Climate: Mediterranean with easterly winds, winds and the temperature difference day to night is at 13-15°C

Harvest: by hand into small crates Mavroudi Thrace 25/08, Assyrtiko 25/8, 25/8 Muscat

Wine making: sun-dried for 15 to 17 days long fermentation in amphora for 100 days with indigenous yeasts and matured for 36 months in small barrels without sulfation. There is no treatment and not filtered.

Analytical characteristics: alcoholic strength: 12,5% vol, Total acidity (tartaric acid): 6,5 g / l, volatile acid (acetic acid) 0,6g / l, total sulfur: 30 mg / l, Reducing sugars: 235 g / l , PH: 3,1.

Organoleptic characteristics: rich and generous black and thin Grenot meniscus, earth wet granite and carbon complex with raisin aromas, dried fruit figs and plum jam from cherry and sour cherry, pine honey, sweet walnut, carob, tobacco and spices cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, cedar . Mouth full,  balanced sweetness, excellent structure and acidity. Large,  complex and exuberant aftertaste.

Tasty combinations: Strong cheese, foe grass and dried fruit desserts with chocolate. Enjoy it at 10 ° C. Open to long aging.

Company details

The company established in 2005 with the AFOI NIKOLAIDI O.E. trademark by Sakis and Marios Nikolaidis, experienced businessmen of Xanthi in the fields of gastronomy and mass focus.

The private vineyard located at the lands of Avdira,Xanthi, in Thrace.
In Avdira city, being known from ancient times as a city of Thrace, begun the struggle for the revival of the well-famous ancient vineyard in 2000. Contributing in this initiative, the copmany AFOI NIKOLAIDI O.E. started the farming of greek and foreign grape variety at 2005. The vineyard’s location on the dry hills of Avdira city, with an altitude of 50-70 meters and approximately 2 km away from the Thrace Sea, the sandy terrain, the continuous cool winds and Avdira’s microclimate contribute desicively in manufacturing high-quality products.

Today, the company has released 9 labels of Varietal and PGE Avdira certified bio-wine with the commercial trademark ΑΝΑΤΟLΙΚΟS VINEYARDS and continues it’s developmental program aiming in the vineyard’s expansion, always according to the principals of bio-agriculture, growing traditional grape varieties from the lands of Avdira and Thrace, and futhermore, developing the structure of the distribution channels in Greece and overseas.
