Clark Estate Upper Wairau Pinot Noir 2017

Marlborough - Beautifully fruited and attractively expressed, the bouquet shows dark plum, cherry, thyme, floral and toasted nut characters with hints of game and spice. The palate delivers lovely weight and roundness, as well as bright fruit intensity and silky texture, finishing long and smooth. The wine offers sweet berry flavours backed by rich savoury nuances

Region
New Zealand > Marlborough

Alc.: 13 % ABV   |   TA: 5.86 g/l

Blend
100% Pinot Noir

Vinification
The fruit was crushed and soaked for 5 days to absorb the delicate aromas and flavours in the skins. A cultured yeast strain was added to begin the fermentation process, and to extract as much colour and phenolics from the skins they were plunged throughout fermentation. Once dry, the wine was pressed into barrels and the Malo-lactic fermentation softened the acidity to create a balanced and harmonious wine.

Marlborough - Clericus is the Roman origin of Clark and is associated with Roman Scholars. Clark Estate reserves only their finest wines to carry the name Clericus. These are wines made with love and passion. They tell a story of our land, our vines and our dedication to making great wine. A powerful and concentrated wine that is packed with ripe stone fruit flavours and layered with exotic tropical aromas created by the use of wild yeast and selective use of oak. A beautifully balanced wine with exquisite finesse and harmony. Enjoy this wine now or over the next 5-10 years.

Clark Estate Upper Awatere Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Marlborough - The Upper Awatere is known for its rugged soils, unforgiving climate and stunning Sauvignon Blanc flavours. Strong winds, scorching daytime temperatures, and cool clear nights contribute to the development of the amazing flavours found in Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Our single-vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is crafted by this terroir, creating wines that are pristine, refined and well balanced, with a strong sense of place.

Region
New Zealand > Marlborough

Alc.: 13 % ABV   |   RS: 3.5 g/l   |   TA: 7.8 g/l

Blend
100% Sauvignon Blanc

Vinification
Every year our Sauvignon Blanc is picked over several nights and each parcel is harvested for specific flavours to compliment the final blend. These parcels are processed and fermented separately under cool conditions and left on yeast lees to mature.

Clark Estate Classic Riesling 2018

Marlborough - This Classic Riesling style is a beautiful example of the Riesling grape. Grown on a gentle south facing slope of the upper Awatere valley, the vines are less exposed and the fruit is left to ripen slowly to develop lovely aromatic flavours reminiscent of the classic Rieslings made around the world. Our single-vineyard Classic Riesling is lively with wonderful aromatics and a mineral edge thanks to the chalky texture, showing how well the Upper Awatere soils can grow great Riesling.

Region
New Zealand > Marlborough

Alc.: 10.5 % ABV   |   RS: 20 g/l   |   TA: 8.86 g/l

Blend
Riesling

Vinification
The fruit was processed as quickly as possible to preserve the distinctive varietal flavours and fermented long and slow. Once the right balance was achieved, the ferment was stopped and the wine was left on the yeast lees to help it develop a lovely structure and extra palate weight.

About us

Company details

Clark Estate is a true family wine company that prides itself on being vibrant, powerful and authentic.

The journey began for Peter and Jane Clark back in 1998 when they made the decision to venture to Marlborough, plant a vineyard and live off the land. In 2003 their son Simon Clark joined the team after completing his BVO and working vintages in Australia, Germany and New Zealand. Four years later, in 2007, their eldest daughter Sarah joined them to look after sales and marketing.

Fast forward to 2020 andClark Estate wines are being exported and enjoyed all over the world. We've built long term relationships with our customers and continue to craft beautiful single-estate wines.  Our wines really do showcase the best of what Marlborough can offer.

We believe strongly in honest family values, outstanding quality and prompt service.  If you're looking for New Zealand wines from a small-scale (32 acres) producer, pop in and have a chat with Sarah Clark at stand E36, hall 9 (New Zealand pavillion).
