Malagouzia Nikolaou

Varietal Composition: Dry White Wine from 100% Malagousia grapes.

Origin: The grapes are organically grown in the private 1h vineyards of Nikolaou family at the area of Duramani, with an average vine age of 4 years. The slope of the selected vineyard parcels is 2%, with south orientation and a yield of approximately 1100 kg per acre. No pesticides and fertilizers are used other than Bordeaux mixture, Sulphur and organic mulch (biological compost).

Production: Pruning of vines in February and harvest at the end of August.

Vinification: The grapes intended for this wine are picked by hand once they reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. They are cooled at 4oC and go through skin contact cold extraction at 8oC for 8 hours. Using only the free-run, they are put through the alcoholic fermentation process, which takes place in stainless controlled temperature tanks at a temperature of 18oC in order to bring out the entire bouquet of the variety. In keeping with the principles of organic farming, we only add the bare minimum necessary quantity of Sulphur dioxide.

Organoleptic characteristics: Gold highlights, magnificent aroma and silky low-acidic taste, with a sweet fresh fruit bouquet of peach, apricot and citrus fruits.

Serving: At a temperature of 12oC.

Food combination: Light meals and fishes.

Alcoholic strength: 12,5oC.

Agiorgitiko Nemea 2018

Varietal Composition: Dry Red Wine from 100% Agiorgitiko grapes.

Origin: Protected Designation of Origin. The grapes are organically grown in the private 3h vineyards of Nikolaou family at the Kalyvia and Duramani areas, with an average vine age of more than 10 years. The slope of the selected vineyard parcels is 2-8%, with a southwest orientation and a yield of approximately 800 kg per acre. No pesticides and fertilizers are used other than Bordeaux mixture, Sulphur and organic mulch (biological compost).

Production: Pruning of vines at the beginning of March and harvest at the end of September.

Vinification: The grapes intended for this wine are picked by hand once they reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. Their alcoholic fermentation process takes place in stainless controlled temperature tanks, in which the extraction lasts for 7 days at a temperature of 26oC, and this process ends, the grapes immediately go through malolactic fermentation. In keeping with the principles of organic farming, we only add the bare minimum necessary quantity of Sulphur dioxide.

Organoleptic characteristics: Agiorgitiko 2017 (100% organic Agiorgitiko PDO NEMEA): Darkish vivid red color, with dark cherry and marmalade bouquets. It has a spicy character with balanced tannins and acidity that underline its freshness. It continues to evolve for a further 6-8 years after its production.

Serving: At a temperature of 16-18oC.

Food combination: Meat dishes, light meals and spaghetti.

Alcoholic strength: 13oto 14odepending on the year.

Moschofilero Nikolaou

Varietal Composition: Dry White Wine from 100% Moschofilero grapes.

Origin: Protected Geographical Indication. The grapes are organically grown in the private 0,8h vineyard of the Nikolaou family at the area of Palaiopyrgos of Mantineia, with a vine age of 60 years. The selected vineyard parcel rests on a silty-clayey soil, oriented towards the west, with a yield of approximately 600 kg per acre. No pesticides and fertilizers are used other than Bordeaux mixture, Sulphur and organic mulch (biological compost).

Production: Pruning of vines in February and harvest at the end of September.

Vinification: The grapes intended for this wine are picked by hand once they reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. They are cooled at 4oC and go through skin contact cold extractionat 8oC for 8 hours. Using only the free-run, they are put through the alcoholic fermentation process, which takes place in stainless controlled temperature tanks at a temperature of 17-18oC in order to bring out the entire bouquet of the variety. Vinification: The grapes intended for this wine are picked by hand once they reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. They are cooled at 4oC and go through skin contact cold extraction at 8oC for 8 hours. Using only the free-run, they are put through the alcoholic fermentation process, which takes place in stainless controlled temperature tanks at a temperature of 18oC in order to bring out the entire bouquet of the variety. In keeping with the principles of organic farming, we only add the bare minimum necessary quantity of Sulphur dioxide. After the fermentation, the young Asyrtiko is let on fine lees in oak barrels for 3 months and the bottled.

Organoleptic characteristics: Gold highlights, magnificent aroma and silky acidic taste combined with the oak aftertaste of the barrel giivng a sweet fresh fruit bouquet of lemon and citrus fruits.

Ktima Nikolaou Nemea 2015

Varietal composition: Dry Red Wine from 100% Agiorgitiko grapes.

Origin: Protected Designation of Origin. The grapes are organically grown in the private 1h vineyards of Nikolaou family at the area of Koutsi, with an average vine age of 15 years. The slope of the selected vineyard parcels is 10%, with a southwest orientation and a yield of approximately 700 kg per acre. No pesticides and fertilizers are used other than Bordeaux mixture, Sulphur and organic mulch (biological compost).

Production: Pruning of vines at the beginning of March and harvest at the end of September.

Vinification: The grapes intended for this wine are picked by hand once they reach the desired level of phenolic and alcoholic maturity. Their alcoholic fermentation process takes place in stainless controlled temperature tanks, in which the extraction lasts for 15 days at a temperature of 27oC, and after these process ends, the grapes immediately go through the process of malolactic fermentation. In keeping with the principles of organic farming, we only add the bare minimum necessary quantity of Sulphur dioxide.

Maturation: The wine is left to rest in a vat for 12 months. After that period, it goes through the process of oxidative aging in French medium-toasted oak barrels for at least 14 months. The next step is to bottle and store the wine in the cellar of the winery for a further 12 months. The philosophy behind these stages is to maintain the characteristic identity and balance of Agiorgitiko wine as regards both its aroma and its taste.

Organoleptic characteristics: Dark-colored with reddish brown hues and ripe red and dark fruits bouquets. Well-rounded tannins, balanced acidity, thick, yet smooth texture with a vanilla aftertaste harmonically combined with spice, cinnamon and wood bouquets. It continues to mature for a further 10 years after its production.

Serving: At a temperature of 18oC after allowing it to breath for 1 hour before serving.

Food combination: Dishes and recipes based on red meat, roasted dishes, game and matured yellow cheeses.

Alcoholic strength: 13%

 Domaine Nikolaou operates since 1984 and is located at the fringes of the mountain Beseza, in the place “Ntouramani” of Nemea, near the city of ancient Keleon of Fliounta. Founder and person in charge of the production is Giannis Nikolaou with studies on enology and viticulture at the University Bordeaux in France. The winery is equipped with modern installations and the private vineyard numbers 13he cultivated with organic methods . Domaine Nikolaou produces wine only with wild fermantion :
- Red and roze wine from the local grape variety Agiorgitiko and Cabernet sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah

- White wine from Malagouzia, Moschofilero,Asyrtiko and Kydonitsa.
