Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli

Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Vigna Paganelli is produced only in the best vintages and in limited quantity.

This wine comes exclusively from "I Paganelli" vineyard, the oldest one in the estate, planted in 1964. Its vines, used as a clonal reference when planting new vineyards, produce high quality grapes which are picked by the individual selection of the best and ripest bunches.

After the manual harvest, the must ferments at controlled temperature. Subsequently the wine spends a long time in large French oak casks and it is then aged in the bottle.

Brunello di Montalcino

Brunello is the prince of Montalcino wines, produced exclusively from Sangiovese grapes picked by hand from the oldest vines in the farm.

After a careful fermentation at controlled temperature, Tenuta Il Poggione Brunello di Montalcino is aged in French oak barrels.

After being aged in wood, the wine is bottle aged: this is an essential process in guaranteeing the pleasantness and the complexity that have made the Brunello di Montalcino world-famous.

Rosso di Montalcino Leopoldo Franceschi

This wine, produced in limited quantity, is the result of a special selection made by Leopoldo Franceschi, owner of Tenuta Il Poggione, from the winery's Rosso di Montalcino barrels.

Rosso di Montalcino Leopoldo Franceschi ages in large barrels and barriques,  before being aged in the bottle.

Wine of undisputed class and elegance, it has a deep ruby red colour, with aromas of red and dark berries, underwood and sweet spices. It is rich and complex on the palate, but elegant at the same time, with velvety tannins and a very persistant finish.

Rosso di Montalcino

Younger, more accessible version of the Brunello, but already with an excellent structure and a great personality, Rosso di Montalcino is a very important wine for Tenuta Il Poggione.

Produced entirely from Sangiovese grapes, sourced in the estate's younger vineyards, Rosso di Montalcino is aged in large casks and barriques before a period of bottle aging.

The wood aging, although not obligatory for the production of Rosso di Montalcino, tones down the tannins typical of a young Sangiovese and gives this red wine a complexity of aroma and structure that make it a great "Young Brunello".

Il Poggione Rosso di Toscana

After the fermentation it ages in large French oak barrels and barriques.

Il Poggione Bianco di Toscana

It is produced with Vermentino and Chardonnay grapes.
After the harvest, the must stays in contact with the skins for 24 hours and subsequently ferments for 25 days at 12 °C (54 F).
The blend of the two grapes allows to get the best from both: the freshness and the minerality typical of the Vermentino, with the structure given by the Chardonnay.

Lo Sbrancato

Lo Sbrancato is a rosé wine made with 100% Sangiovese grapes.
Its name comes from the homonymous painting from 1888 located in the winery's tasting room.
After the harvest, the must stays in contact with the skins for 24 hours and it subsequently continues its fermentation for 25 days at 12 °C (54 F).
The red fruit flavours and its freshness make it a great rosé with the freshness of a young Sangiovese.

Marchesa Clementina - Brut Rosé

his wine was created in honour of Marchesa Clementina, grandmother of Leopoldo and Livia Franceschi, current owners of Tenuta Il Poggione. Always a lover of great Champagne, her taste has inspired this Metodo Classico produced in Montalcino.

This Spumante is made exclusively from estate – sourced Sangiovese grapes.
The grape bunches are hand-picked in crates and softly pressed. This is the only moment in which the must remains in contact with the skins, and this is why the wine has an elegant pale pink colour.
After fermentation in temperature – controlled steel tanks, the bases are selected and the tirage takes place. Since then, the wine spends at least 24 months in contact with yeasts, at constant temperature and humidity, in our ancient cellar in Sant’Angelo in Colle. At the end, after the disgorging, the bottles rest for another two months.
The liqueur used is free of added sugars (pas dosé): we came up with this formula after numerous tasting sessions aimed at finding the best balance between purity and expressiveness. Therefore, the choice of making a pas dosé wine is not the result of the current trends, but rather of the natural qualities of the wine, which does not need any form of make-up.

Vin Santo Sant'Antimo Riserva

Typical traditional Tuscan wine produced from Trebbiano and Malvasia grapes, harvested, then dried on straw mats in the old traditional way, in order to increase the sugar concentration.

After pressing, fermentation and slow aging (8 or 9 years) take place in Caratelli, 100 litre (27 US Gallons) barrels, on the "madre", a compound of yeasts and bacteria kept from year to year, which has a significant effect on the characteristics of the Vin Santo.
