CONDRIEU - SAINT JOSEPH - IGP SYRAH AND VIOGNIER
In 1985, Dominique and Marc Rouvière bought a property of 5½ hectares in Chavanay. They renovated the old house in the middle of the vineyard and named it DOMAINE DU CHENE and so began their new lives as vignerons. They choose this name because in front of the old house they were a lot of oaks, so they snatched several oaks and kept just one. Two special cuvees were created and named after their children: Cuvée Anaïs (Saint Joseph Rouge) and Cuvée Julien (Condrieu, dessert wine). During the next 27 years they worked hardly, growing vineyard and wining medals.
In July 2012 after various wine trainings in France and abroad, Anais and Julien joined the family business. Before their installation, they worked for Justin Winery in Paso Robles (CA) for 4 months and Seresin Winery in Marlborough New Zealand for 3 months.
Currently, the Rouviere family has more than 24 hectares of vines (the average age is 35 years) and the vineyard stretch from the hillside to the plateau:
4 ha 70 of CONDRIEU (grape variety: viognier)
1 ha 90 of SAINT JOSEPH WHITE (grape variety: marsanne and roussanne)
6 ha 20 of SAINT JOSEPH RED (grape variety: syrah)
3 ha 20 of VIN DE PAYS (grape variety: syrah)
5 ha 90 of VIN DE PAYS (grape variety: viognier)
2 ha 20 of VIN DE PAYS (grape variety: marsanne and roussanne)
The 4 members of the Rouviere family have 4 different tempers but they are complementary! They love to work together! Dominique is in charge of sales and administration. Marc is in charge of new plantations and gives advices for winemaking. Anaïs manage employees and run shipments. Julien is winemaker and tractors mechanic. Each has his function but if one is missing, others can substitute! Great teamwork!
In their wines you will find their work spirit and their shared passion.
One oak, one family, one passion forever!
