2013 COMPENDIUM

Tasting Notes
Portraying red and black currant, Italian plum and star anise upfront it delivers a display of dark cherry, wild blueberry and herb. Elegant and concentrated, this wine presents a core of balance and length with beautiful oak character.

Production
Vintage 2013 was a season of change – early to start, late to finish, and with exceptional flavour potential. A warmer than normal spring brought early budbreak followed by an extremely rainy June that slowed vine growth. Balance was restored with above average temperatures in July and August allowing grapes to mature along a normal ripening curve. The warmest vintage since 2003 cooled off just in time for harvest. In September, heavy rainfall caused significant delays in the grape harvest resulting in our longest picking season ever. Overall, fruit quality was superb for both red and white varietals and the wines are showing excellent balance and character.

2018 JAGGED ROCK VINEYARD SAUVIGNON BLANC - SEMILLON

Tasting Notes
Aromas of passionfruit, apricot, and lemon verbena. Citrus flavours carry the wine to a supple finish.

Food Pairing Notes
Foccacia, crème fraïche and tomatoes.

Focused and bright with fresh grapefruit, citrus and white stonefruits. A perfectly balanced palate of subtle textures and fine acidity.

Production
The 2018 harvest began earlier than anticipated due to above average growing degree days in the spring. Summer arrived with cooler temperatures, encouraging the fruit to develop beautiful acidity and allowing more time for full flavour retention. One of the coolest Septembers on record followed, slowing down the sugar accumulation and allowing the fruit to fully develop phenologically. Harvest concluded on November 8, with the extended season yielding a crop of uniformly ripened fruit with mouthwatering freshness and acidity.

2013 SILVER RANCH RIESLING ICEWINE

Tasting Notes
Honeyed mandarin, quince, ripe apricots, and floral aromatics balanced with Meyer lemon acidity and an unctuous, creamy mouthfeel.

Food Pairing Notes
Mirabell plum tart or lemon verdena pudding tartlet.

Production
We named this wine Silver Ranch because, depending on where one is standing in the vineyard, one can see the canal in Black Sage that, in the winter, appears silver as does Lake Okanagan. Early explorers went along trade routes that traipsed through these vineyards and often used this area for winter camps. At Mission Hill Family Estate, handcrafting Icewine is definitely a labour of love considering the below freezing temperatures and early morning start to harvest the frozen grapes. The reward is immeasurable. An exceptional wine that can be enjoyed now, or cellared over the next 5 years.

2012 CROSSWINDS SYRAH 1.5L

Tasting Notes
Thick layers of blackberries, black currants, and black plums mixed with espresso, sage, and tobacco. Dusty tannins on the finish.

Production
Named after the crosswinds that gently pass across the lakes and up and down the valley. Our Crosswinds Syrah is one of two wines in the Terroir Collection that is farmed at two distinct vineyard estate properties. The percentage changes with the vintage quality to ensure that the optimum flavour is in the bottle. A mix of new and old French oak affords a plushness on the palate that extends to the finish.

2017 RESERVE MERLOT

Tasting Notes
Our stellar southern Okanagan estates deliver this fruit forward and voluptuous Merlot. Power and structure dance while lush, round flavours of plum, blackberry, cedar and fig flourish. 15 months of oak barrel aging completed this wine.
Our 2017 Reserve Merlot was grown in two of our estate vineyards - Black Sage Bench in Oliver, and Osoyoos. Black Sage Bench is an incredibly diverse vineyard with more than 60 different individual blocks. This affords us an amazing array of premium quality fruit. Osoyoos, the region’s most southern area, is comprised of arid bench-lands that benefit from the lake’s effect providing the region with more than 200 frost-free days. This warm climate allows our Bordeaux varietals to completely ripen for full flavour.

2017 BORDER VISTA SYRAH

Tasting Notes
Rich and round with notes of blueberry, dark berries and violets. An incredibly elegant palate highlighted by cassis and wild plum is well balanced by hints of white pepper and star anise with a wonderfully persistent finish.

Food Pairing Notes
Rataouille, rack of lamb, filet mignon, eggplant parmesan, and aged hard cheeses.
Our Crosswinds Syrah is one of two wines in the Terroir Collection that is farmed from a single vineyard estate property in East Osoyoos. A mix of new and old French oak affords a plushness on the palate that extends to the finish. This wine will age well over the next 3-5 years. Named after the crosswinds that gently pass across the lakes and up and down the valley. Crosswinds is also a poetic reference to the border crossing between Canada and the United States as well as the crossing of the high desert and lakes creating a unique microclimate. The label image illustrates the beauty of the vines as they start to move from budbreak to the next phase of growth. There is an abundance of natural cover crop as part of our integrated pest management system.
