Made with the best Tempranillo grapes selected from our oldest vineyards, handpicked in small
boxes and classified at the selection table.
Malolactic fermentation and further aging for 24 months in new French oak barrels.
This wine has remained bottled at a controlled temperature and in complete darkness since 1997.

CASTILLO DE MENDOZA AUTOR ECOLÓGICO

This wine has been made with the most selected Tempranillo grapes from our best organic
vineyards, handpicked in small boxes and classified on the selection table. Fermented in small
conic inox tanks.
Malolactic fermentation undergoes in new French oak casks followed by an aging process where
its lies for 20 months.
Finally the wine stays at least 12 months in the bottle before it is sold.

Tasting notes
Colour: Beautiful ruby-cherry red colour.
Aroma: The nose is dominated by ripe black and red fruits, blackberries and raspberries with
notes of liquorice well integrated with coffee and spices with hints of vanilla and cinnamon.
Taste: This bodied wine fills the mouth with a firm structure and fresh sensations, fine sweet
tannins with a very long, aromatic and intense finish.

This wine is the result of the gentle pressing of a selection of our best organic tempranillo grapes, collected manually in our vineyard El Alto de Mindiarte.

Aroma: Intense aroma of strawberries and wild raspberries with certain touches of red currant.

NORALBA BLANCO ECOLÓGICO FERMENTADO EN BARRICA 2019

Made with Viura and Malvasía grapes from our centenaries vineyards Finca Vitarán and Vizcarral, handpicked in small boxes and classified at the selection table.

Alcoholic prefermentation of must and grape’s skins at a controlled temperature of 8 ºC. Alcoholic fermentation of the juice, without being pressed, in new Hungarian oak barrels.

Aged in new Hungarian oak barrels on its own lees during 3 - 4 months.

Tasting notes
Colour: Pale yellow with greenish shadows.
Aroma: Intense white fruits, pear and apple aromas mixed with tropical touches like pineapple,
lychees and mango. Delicated notes of quince marmalade with hints of species from the ageing
in the oak.
Taste: On the palate it is fresh, balanced and intense and in the mouth it is soft, full and
unctuous with a long and aromatic finish.

NORALBA CRIANZA ECOLÓGICO 2017

Wine made with 80% Tempranillo grapes and 20% Graciano variety from the Alto de Mindiarte
ecological vineyard, harvested manually in small boxes and selected at a selection table.
Elaboration of Bordeaux style, with destemming and crushing of bunches.
Malolactic fermentation undergoes in new American and French oak barrels followed by an aging
process where its lies for 18 months.
After this process, the wine has a minimum remaining period of 12 months in the bottle.

Tasting notes
Colour: Intense cherry red colour with ruby shades.
Aroma: Very aromatic nose with black and red fruits -blackberries and raspberries- with hints of
wild herbs as fennel and thyme, integrated to the toasty and spicy aromas of aging in a new
barrel.
Taste: Powerful and unctuous in the mouth with good balance of acidity and ripe tannins, very
singular and aromatic finish showing the terroir it comes from.

VITARÁN CRIANZA

Made exclusively with grapes of the Tempranillo variety, harvested manually and selected on a
selecction table.
Elaboration of Bordeaux style, with stemming and crushing of bunches and fermentation in
stainless steel tanks of small capacity at controlled temperature.
Aged for 12 months in new American and French oak barrels and a finally stay in the bottle for at
least 12 months.

Tasting notes
Colour: Deep red colour with light russet shades.
Aroma: In the nose, well integrated vanilla and cinnamon with blackberries and plum.
Taste: Good balance in the mouth with acidity and tannins in harmony. A long, clean and
aromatic finish of spicy character.

EVENTO RESERVA ESPECIAL 2005

It is the result of the best Tempranillo grapes destemmed by hand.
The grapes are transported to the winery in small boxes to be selected first by clusters and then
berry by berry.
The malolactic fermentation takes place in new French oak barrels in which the wine remains on
its lees and matures for 30 months.
Finally stay for 18 months minimum in bottle before going to market.

Tasting notes
Colour: Deep cherry red colour with ruby and violet shades.
Aroma: Very intense in the nose with grape variety aromas of blackberry, cassis, raspberry,
joined by floral and fruity notes of strawberries and violets. All of them well integrated with the
aromas from a fine aging in French oak barrels with hints of coconut, cream, coffee, vanilla.
Taste: Full bodied in the mouth with a remarkable fine sweet tannins.

About us

Company details

Bodegas Castillo de Mendoza is the result of the Mendoza family's passion for wine. It was born in 1994, when Eloy Antonio Mendoza recovered the family tradition of several generations devoted to viticulture and wine making, and founded his own winery in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja.

Our 35 ha of own vineyards have an average age of 45 years, are located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, La Rioja Alta, and are cultivated in an 100% Organic way, betting on biodiversity and sustainable development.

The elegance and maturity of our wines is achieved thanks to a fruit of excellent quality always collected manually, a selection in fruit-to-fruit table, a malolactic fermentation in new French and American oak barrels and a bottle aging and refinement in draft excavated in live rock, sheltered from darkness and controlled temperature and humidity.
