Coastal Region - The Petit Verdot contributes to the muscular structure of the wine while the Shiraz adds a distinctive flavour to the mid-palate. The Malbec adds bright berry fruit. This wine displays delicious dark black cherries with dark chocolate and spice on the mid-palate and a lingering finish. The Petit Verdot vineyard is situated in the Helderberg area and has well-drained soils. The Shiraz and Malbec originated from vineyards on weathered granite soils closer to the Atlantic Ocean. These vineyards are all exposed to cool early afternoon sea breezes, enhancing the flavours of the wine.

Coastal Region - The grapes were handpicked and sorted then crushed and fermented in open top, stainless steel tanks. Manual punch downs were conducted (of the skins) to ensure a fine tannin and colour extraction. After fermentation, the wine was pressed and half stored in stainless steel tanks and the other half in older barrels for maturation. Rich, ripe and vibrant red and black currants, spice and plumbs. Cape Coast - The taste profile of the Franschhoek Hills Reserve Chardonnay reflects the effort and care that marked its journey from grape to bottle. It exudes delicate and pure citrus flavours on the nose and palate and a hint of salty, cool-climate minerality. Good integration of oak and a creamy mouthfeel add to the complex structure.This elegant wine is imminently drinkable but will gain even more dimension with age and can be cellared for 5-8 years. It is a versatile companion for food, and pairs well with dishes as diverse as beef carpaccio, chicken alfredo and fresh ceviche.
