Grand vin du Château 2018

The respect for nature that is the bedrock of the specifications for organic vinegrowing allows the Gamay grape to express its granitic terroir to the full.
Using recovered natural tending techniques that include tilling and with a much lower yield, the vine draws its quintessence from the earth. In Beaujolais the Gamay grape gives highly drinkable, smooth wines with ripe grape aromas and flavours. Fresh, thirst-quenching qualities make this unfussy wine the perfect choice to share with friends, naturally…

Coteaux Bourguignons 2018

This wine is crafted using a single grape variety, Gamay. it has recently been discovered that it is a descendant of Pinot. No doubt, our forefathers chose the son for the extra colour and fruityness it brings to the table.

The terroirs at Pizay are particularly well-suited to creating cellaring wines that can cross decades, to savour with red meat.

Morgon Cuvée Les Sybarites 2017

This protected designation of origin appellation spreads over 1100 hectares (2719 acres) giving an average annual yield of 55 000 Hl of wine. It is said to boast the fruit of a Beaujolais and the charm of a Burgundy.

This special cuvée is matured in 6, 2500-litre oak tuns we call “Les 6 barriques”
But the name Sybarite is first and foremost a reference to the disciples of Epicurus who founded a school of philosophy in Sybaris, Southern Italy.

They advocated a quest for just the right balance of pleasure… This Morgon contributes to pursuing this noble ambition.

About us

Company details

A thousand years of history. Gosmard, the first Seigneur or Lord of Pizay, had two towers built in 1030 A.D. His descendants lived in the Château until 1916. In 1981, Groupama Rhône Alpes Auvergne took over the destiny of the estate and created the hotel complex.

Today, the estate’s 80 ha (197 acres) of vineyards produce grapes for six different appellations: white Beaujolais, rosé Beaujolais, red Beaujolais, Régnié, Morgon (three cuvées) and Brouilly Château de Saint-Lager, which has been owned by the estate since 1998.

In 2015, the estate became one of the first two hundred French estates to be awarded European High Environmental Value Certification. We have been adhering to organic agriculture directives certified by ECOCERT on a sharecropping (métayage) since 1996.
