Steiles Ding - Riesling from steep slate soil

Nothing for couch potatos...! If you want to go up to where the steep thing comes from, you have to be tough. Every ray of sunshine is caught in the steep slope and in the grape to fruity enjoyment. The "thing" is Riesling and as complex and multi-layered as the terroir it comes from.

Brauneberger Kammer GG Bernkasteler Ring

The 2017er Brauneberger Kammer GG displays a delicately fruit-driven and ripe nose of apricot, tangerine, honeyed peach, a hint of mango, almond and vanilla. after some extensive airing, notes of sage and thyme join the party. the wine is elegantly smooth and round on the palate, where creamy and ripe fruits as well as flavors of Muskat further underline the comparatively soft and smooth experience. The finish is however more structured and even slightly powerful. The after-taste is quite spicy and even saline. This will please lovers of forceful and fruit-driven Riesling with comparatively moderate levels of acidity. The wine gains from extensive airing and patience is needed. 90points (Mosel Fine Wines, oct 2018)

2017 Klang der Tiefe Riesling Spätlese trocken

This yellow-golden colored wine displays an aromatic and ripe nose of apricot, quince, yellow peach, honeyed pineapple, mirabelle, orange and lavender. It proves remarkably full-bodied and powerful on the ripe and honeyed palate for an „entry level“ dry Riesling and leaves a tale of CO2 in the very long, smoky and powerful finish. Some tartness comes through in the after-taste which still needs to integrate. After a day or two, the wine starts to significantly gain in finesse and harmony, so patience is needed. This seriously big dry Riesling will please lovers of vigorous wines. (Mosel Fine Wines, oct 2018)

2017 Kestener Paulinshofberger Riesling feinherb

The 2017er Kestener Paulinshofberger feinherb was fermented down to 18 g/l residual sugar, i.e. fully off-dry levels. It develops a quite aromatic and ripe nose of apricot, pear, honey, quince, anise, smoke and nutmeg. The wine is quite juicy on the palate, where an underlying feel of sweetness coupled with low acidity makes for a rather round experience. Flavors of honey, orange and pineapple are slightly freshened up in the after-taste by a kick of grapefruit. While being already quite enjoyable, this off-dry Riesling will really only develop ist full potential in a few years. 90+points (Mosel Fine Wines, oct 2018)

Riesling - steep slate soil
Unique Moselle Rieslings full of fruit & minerality - our passion!
This passion motivates every year anew to exploit the natural potential and to create expressive, individual wines.
Characterized by the natural interplay of slate, the climate and the landscape, careful vineyard work, yield reduction of the vines, late, selective hand selection of healthy, fully ripe grapes and only careful use of modern techniques in the cellar, wines develop with intense aromas and elegant balance.
