Thanks to the powers that the current European legislation gives to the Consortium on the promotion, protection and care of public interests, the Consortium can now successfully achieve its main goal: improving the conditions of the wine industry. From that point of view the activity of the Consortium is particularly helpful in preserving an area that Unesco has recently recognized as a world heritage.
The new name and the new logotype, chosen to emphasize the Barbera dAsti, whose name is perfectly able to represent the whole territory, are the starting points of a new strategy designed to increase the awareness of the Monferrato territory and of its productions.
The goal of the Consortium is to offer to the consumers the maximum guarantee on the wines with protected designation purchased. This goal is achieved through a series of international inspections that are carried out on sold products. Another very important sector of intervention for the Consortium is the research activity, that allows the Consortium to raise the quality of the protected wines. The current projects of the Consortium concern the fight of the golden flavescenza, the identification of a native yeast on Barbera grapes and the characterization of the produced wines in the territory of the Barbera dAsti DOCG.
