La Paillousse - OAC Chateauneuf du Pape Red

Soil covered with large flat pebbles nonetheless allows the vines to take root and to benefit at night from the heat soaked up by the pebbles during the day.

This cuvee, selected by Pierre Amadieu, is a blend of the Grenache and Syrah grape varieties, harvested by hand in October. The wine is made following the methods traditionally used for this famous appellation and is aged for 12 months in oak barrels.

A deep purple colour, it has delicate red fruit and fig aromas on the nose. On the palate enjoy its weight, and the powerful yet smooth black fruit and liquorice flavours with notes of mint and “garrigue” or wild herbs.

Try it with a fricassee of wild mushrooms or with liquorice ice cream. Allow to age for up to 10 years, or enjoy it from its second year after decanting.

La Gravinière - OAC Tavel rosé

A bed of flat pebbles on the right bank of the Rhône, a valley of limestone slate surrounded by wooded hillsides, sandy and chalky gravel spread on gently sloping terraces: the very varied terroirs of Tavel, combined with a hot and sunny climate, produce wines that are complex, yet harmonious in style.

A subtle blending mingles the power and the roundness of the Grenache grape with the aromatic richness of Syrah and Cinsault for an unsual depth of aromas.

The wine-making process starts with a short period in vat before pressing to give this rosé its delicate pink colour. The elegant balance and fresh exuberance of this wine are accentuated by a fermentation at controlled temperature (16-17°C).

A raspberry robe with an amber hue reveals fragrant floral and fruity scents on the nose, soon followed by richer, mellower aromas of stewed fruits seasoned with spices. This exceptional rosé wine beautifully balances elegance, fruit and freshness on the palate.

From its second year it will match well with typical southern French dishes such as olive purée (“tapenade”), ratatouille and anchovy paté, in addition to exotic cuisine, white meat or shellfish. Serve chilled (10°C).

LES HAUTES RIVES - OAC CAIRANNE WHIT

Fully ripe Clairette from 60 year old vines, completed by white Grenache and Roussanne grapes, are hand picked on Hautes Rives hillsides.
After a slow barrel fermentation, this cuvée is carefully aged on its lees for two months.

With a savory style, this white Cairanne shows notes of citrus fruits and lime tree, followed by a juicy acidity and a discreet minerality.
Drink chilled (12°-14°C) during its youth.

About us

Company details

Owner and Wine grower in Gigondas since 1929

Our history begins in 1929 when my grand father decides to bottle and trade under the signature Pierre Amadieu his wine coming from the 7 hectares (17 acres) of vineyard in Gigondas passed on by generation to generation. He is then one of the firsts to print the name of the appellation on his bottles and obtains from 1932 a golden medal in the National Agricultural Concours of Paris.

I am presently at the head of the company, working with my uncle and my three cousins. I am in charge of the winemaking with my cousin Jean-Marie. My uncle Claude runs the vineyard. My cousin Henri-Claude manages the sales, and his sister, Marie is in charge of private customers and the cellar door. Together, we pursue the long-established family tradition of respect for the soil in order to produce wines that reflect and embody our unique terroir. Our aim is to offer you wines that are faithful to my grandfather’s quality standards, but with a note of modernity to delight the most discerning of palates.

I am not a follower of over-extracted wines and often "heavy" to taste ; my ambition is rather to obtain well-balanced wines with a Burgundy fineness. Through the maturing I try to reveal all the elegance and the richness of our protected terroirs located on the heights of the appellation Gigondas. From vines to the bottling patience and observation are required. Today appreciated all over the world, every vintage reserves its subtleties which I am happy to subject to your appreciation.
