BRUKSWHISKY

Mackmyra Brukswhisky has a balanced character with fruits and butterscotch. The nose is clean and young, with light, spicy, notes of Swedish peat and juniper. Clear fruitiness with butterscotch, citrus and pear. Prominent notes are liquorice and mint.

The palate is fruity and slightly smoky while the aftertaste is fruity and slightly spicy. Enjoy Brukswhisky as it is, with or without ice, on any occasion

SVENSK EK

Svensk Ek has a spicy character giving notes of sandalwood, dried ginger, black pepper, roasted oak barrel and herbs to our whisky. These spicy characteristics are complemented by fruity undertones with hints of vanilla and toffee from oak barrels, previously used to age Bourbon.

Our Swedish oak barrels are made of oak from southern Sweden where oak trees have grown for centuries.

Harsh weather conditions and dramatic seasonal shifts have left their marks on the trees, making them very durable. Before the trees become barrels staves are cut and then dried for at least a year. The barrels are then coopered by hand and heavily toasted on the inside, enabling the wood fibres to give the whisky more character.

We are constantly developing our ancient craft to make it even better. One example of our many innovations  is to age a great deal of our whisky in smaller barrels thereby extracting more flavour.

MACK BY MACKMYRA

MACK by Mackmyra is a artisanal single malt whisky made from only Swedish ingredients. MACK is great in cocktails but also on its own, straight or on the rocks.

It is a flavourful whisky with a bright, fresh character and notes of vanilla, pear and citrus. In MACK we have added caramel colouring.

OUR STORY

“Why are there no whisky distilleries Sweden?” one of the friends asked. None of the others could answer the question, leaving it floating in the air. Sweden has no tradition of making whisky. We thought that was weird when we began to explore whether it was possible to create a Swedish single malt whisky -for everywhere we turned, we saw opportunities.
In Sweden, we find one of the world’s purest water, filtered to perfection since the Ice Age. It is no coincidence that the distillery is located next to a boulder with constant access to the crystal clear waters. Our Swedish barley develops a special sweetness during the long summer days, a sweetness that has become one of the cornerstones of our whisky.

A large part of our whisky is stored in new Swedish oak. The Swedish oak grows slowly in our harsh climate and gives the whisky a harsher flavor than American oak. The whisky gets a fiery spice balanced by sweetness similar to caramelized sugar.
Today we produce whisky with the same joy of discovery and experimentation as we did when starting in 1999, but in one of the world’s most modern distilleries. We do it according to the rules of art, but we do it our way and with Swedish ingredients. To produce whisky without additives and with as little environmental impact as possible is for us a matter of course.
