Gli Scaglioni takes its name from the peculiar conformity of the soil as “flakes” of tuff, where the vines of this excellent Barbera grow. Icon of Dezzani winery, it comes from the willing of having a long lasting wine, which can change and mature over time showing its unique taste. In order to have this name, Gli Scaglioni needs to face some simple but fundamental steps. After a manual harvest, the best grapes are chosen and brought to the winery for a soft pressing of the pomaces, to get noble and fruity flavors. The must undergoes a fermentation at controlled temperature and a 30 days maceration. With the first warm temperatures of the year, it comes a spontaneous malolactic fermentation. Now the wine is ready for a long refining in big oak casks as the Piedmontese tradition wants. This Barbera is in fact left ageing for 4 years in big Slavonian oak casks. It will be our winemaker Luigi Dezzani to judge and decide if the wine could bring the name “Gli Scaglioni”. It has an intense ruby red color with garnet highlights. Its nose is complex, full of red fruity flavors and notes of chocolate and tobacco. The taste is unique, elegant and heady thanks to its fruit and the good acidity, which well balances the round body.
This is our most long lasting Barbera, great also after 10 years. It matches perfectly cold cuts, first elaborate dishes, meat and halfseasoned cheeses, but it is also a meditation glass to be enjoyed on its own.
This is the Piedmontese excellence in a glassof wine. Serve at 20-22 °C.
This rosé wine is the result of a selective manual harvest, after which grapes are vinified: the maceration takes place at controlled temperature, the must stays on skins just few hours having as result this wonderful, bright elegant colour.
Its bouquet is fine and complex with notes of fresh flowers, red fruits and underbrush berries. Very soft the impact to the palate, the taste is full and rich with a refreshing final.
Ideal as aperitif, with fishes, white meat and salami.
Dezzani is a Company born from the passion of a Family for the wine and became a productive reality going out of local boundaries.
It was 1934 when the grandfather Luigi Dezzani founded his historic Winery, at that time dedicated to the production and the local grapes distribution.
The key of the successes got in the 70-80's has been the enthusiasm Luigi passed to his son Romolo, who made Dezzani known not only in Piedmont but all over Italy, becoming one of the reference points of the typicity of Piedmont.
Following their father's philosophy, Franca, Luigi and Giovanni, the 3rd generation, have spread Dezzani brand onto the international markets. It has been a choice of quality aimed to the production of prestigious wines, later on recognized by the Customers in the world. Today, this historical reality is guided by Rocca Family (five generations in wine business) and Villa Rivalta (10.000 hectares and hundreds of families collected in cooperative) that are developing important tangible synergies through a sensible supply chain control, modern technologies and the love of the ones that live of wine from centuries.
