ROSATO

ROSATO DI TOSCANA
It is obtained by 100% Sangiovese grapes, by setting some of the must apart in the very first hours of maceration, as soon as it has absorbed a pinky colouring. Our Rosato is a fresh, fruity wine with marked floral perfumes, and nevertheless concentrated and consistent.

GRAPES:
Sangiovese toscano 100%.

TECHNIQUE:
The must is set apart from the skins right after a few hours of maceration, held at a temperature of 10°C max. Then, the fermentation develops at controlled temperature of 18°C and is stopped with a residual sugar of around 6g/l.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS:
Salmon-pink colour. Intense and rich nose, with typical fruit and flower flavour, with notes of wild strawberry. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with lively acidity and good softness, exalted by a light residual sugar.

RISERVA

CHIANTI RUFINA RISERVA
This wine is released after about 30 months of ageing; anyway, more years of cellaring will contribute to develop bothstructure and complexity. Extremely rich and structured wine, we suggest to match it with roasted meats, stewed meats and aged cheeses.

VARIETÀ DI UVE - GRAPES:
Sangiovese 93%, Colorino 7%.

TECHNIQUE:
Grapes are picked about 7-10 days after the harvest for our basic Chianti Rufina. Fermentation takes place at a temperature between 25 and 28°C. Maceration (skin contact) of about 25 days. The malolactic fermentation is completed in inox tanks, then the wine stays for 18 months in French oak barrels, half new and half one or two-year old. The bottle ageing is of about six months.

ORGANOLEPTIC CHARACTERISTICS:
Deep ruby red colour. Concentrated nose showing plum and berry character. On the palate full and round, with soft tannins and a long, fruity, peppery finish.

About us

Company details

Fattoria di Basciano is the estate owned by the Masi family since the beginning of 1900. It is located right in the heart of the Chianti Rufina area, on thee top of a hill overlooking the Argomenna valley on one side, and the right bank of the Sieve river on the other.

The vineyards are at an elevation of 300 mtrs. on sea level, lying on a very stony soil, locally known as "Galestro". The micro-climate is ideal for the ripening of the grapes. It is dry and breeze, marked by scarcity of rain and a remarkable range of night and day temperature in summertime. Te extension of te property is of 75 Ha, divided in 35 Ha of vineyard, 20 Ha of oliveyard and 20 Ha of wood.

In the last fifteen years the ownership han been engaged in a program of researches for the highest qualità level. These efforts lead su to invest consistently, by plantíng new vineyards and building a new winery for the vinification and the ageing in barrel of the wine.
The original core of Basciano is an ancient guard tower, dating back to the 13th century, now restored. Here we lead our activity of high-level Agriturismo.
