Launch of “Secret de Famille” wines boasting the new “Bourgogne Côte d'Or” appellation
In recognition of the prestige of their noble origins, the regional appellation wines hailing from the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits have finally obtained the "Bourgogne Côte dOr" appellation, beginning with the 2017 vintage.
With its "Secret de Famille" Burgundy Pinot Noir and Chardonnay duo, since 2007 the House of Albert Bichot has offered two wines hailing exclusively from plots in the Côte dOr, renowned for some of Burgundys greatest wines.
On the occasion of the launch of the new "Bourgogne Côte dOr" appellation and in celebration of the "Secret de Famille" ranges 10th anniversary, Albert Bichot has completely revamped its packaging, resulting in a sleeker, more refined modern look. Bourgogne Côte dOr "Secret de Famille" wines are crafted from a meticulous blend of grapes from plots located in villages famous for their great white wines (Saint- Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet...) and their great red wines (Chambolle-Musigny, Gevrey-Chambertin, Marsannay...).
In order to produce these genuine "haute couture" Burgundy wines, yields are limited and the vinification and ageing techniques used are the same as for the "village" appellations.
Maison Albert Bichot, founded in 1831 in Beaune, is a family independent wine artisan run by the 6th generation. Its vineyards include 6 prestigious estates totaling more than 100 hectares (250 acres):
- Domaine Long-Depaquit in Chablis (65 ha – 160 acres)
- Domaine du Clos Frantin in Nuits-Saint-Georges (7,5 ha – 18,5 acres)
- Château-Gris in Nuits-Saint-Georges (3,5 ha – 8,5 acres)
- Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard (15 ha – 37 acres)
- Domaine Adélie in Mercurey (7,8 ha – 11 acres)
- Domaine de Rochegrès in Moulin-à-Vent (5,2 ha – 13 acres)
We practise sustainable and organic viticulture in our vineyards. And starting with the 2018 vintage, all the wines from our Côte dOr and Mercurey estates will bear the certified “organic wine” label.
We have a winery and a cellar in each of Burgundys major viticultural regions, where a dedicated team vinifies and ages our precious wines. Aware of the richness of the legacy that has been passed on to us, we want them to be imbued with the terroir and the characteristics of the village they hail from.
The same care is taken with the grapes grown in our plots as with those purchased from our partner growers. All of the wines that bear the Albert Bichot signature benefit from the same know-how and meticulousness.
Within the last 10 years, we were awarded twice the Best International Red winemaker (2004 & 2017) and White Winemaker (2011) trophy by the International Wine Challenge.
