TOKAJ SELECTIONS - WINES THAT WILL BURN THE MYTHS ABOUT HEAVY TOKAJ WINES
The most famous Tokaj wines, produced from the finest grapes with noble rot in the best
CLASSIC represents the oldest procedure of making sweet wines with long aging in wooden
barrels under the veil, for several years in a medieval cellar.
SELECTION represents shorter aging instead of long maturing in wooden barrels under the veil.
Minimun two years years in a medieval cellar and than rest in bottles.
Both are made only in great vintages,when Botrytis Cinerea Persoon-noble rot creates cibebas
sweet raisins. Cibebas- known as Tokaj pearls used to produce the finest Tokaj selection-
“Putňový“ (Hungarian Aszu) wines. Putňa is wooden bucket (22-25kg of noble rotten raisins),
which is in use for centuries as measurement unit for sweet hand selected raisins. How many of
this buckets are combined with one Gönc cask (136 liter barrel) of wine or must, so many Putnový
výber it is.
Tokaj samorodne dry are also well known wines from the region. Wines are made with Cibebas
on the clusters.
