Le Mas Rosé

VINEYARD
Area : France - Roussillon, North-Catalonia
Classification : AOP Côtes du Roussillon
Soil : Clayey-chalky and schistous soils.
Area under vine : 1 Hectare
Yield per hectare : 30 Hl/Ha.
Grape varieties : Syrah, Grenache
Cultivation technique : Reasoned culture, Cordon pruning.

VINIFICATION
Harvesting : Grapes are hand picked into small crates for better selection and to avoid the destruction and oxydation of berries. Sorting both before and after destemming
Maceration : Direct pressing
Fermentation : Long fermentation at lower temperature. No malolactic fermentation.
Maturing : In stainless steel vats.

TASTING NOTE
Colour : Beautiful pale pink color with salmon-pink lights.
Bouquet : Tangy red fruit.
Palais : Red fruit flavors enhanced by a beautiful freshness (distinctive feature of schistous soils).

  • Area under vine : 2.5 Hectares
  • Yield per hectare : 17 Hl/Ha.
  • Grape varieties : Macabeu, Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc.
  • Cultivation technique : Reasoned culture, Gobelet pruning.

VINIFICATION
  • Harvesting : Grapes are hand picked and put into small crates  for better selection and to avoid the destruction and oxydation of berries. Sorting both before and after destemming.
  • Wine making : Direct pressing, gentle must settling in stainless steel tanks.
  • Fermentation : Fermented at controlled temperature, fortification to keep the natural sweetness and complexity of the wine .
  • Ageing : In oak barrels during 5 to 10  years.

TASTING NOTE
  • Colour : Clear amber
  • Bouquet :  Candied fruit aromas and spices
  • Palate : The mouth is ample, soft and rich. Very complex, it starts with rancio aromas, soon followed by dried fruits, honey and white flowers notes.

  • Wine making : Traditional.
  • Maceration : Long with regular cap-punching.
  • Fermentation : Fermenting with regulation of temperatures.
  • Maturing : In stainless steel vats during 8 months.

TASTING NOTE
  • Colour : Garnet-red
  • Bouquet : Dominated by black fruits, blackberry.
  • Palate : Aromas of black fruits enhanced by a beautiful freshness (distinctive feature of schistous soil) and spicy overtones. The final is elegant and silky.

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY ....
 On the traité of Corbeil in 1258, the kings of Aragon  Majorca  built a castle for the defense of the north border of the region.

This castle builds by Nunyo Sanch was called " Castell of Forca Real " in French Royal Castle.

Destroyed in 1693, today thrones the Hermitage of Forca Real, a chapel dedicated to the Happy Virgin Mary.
This is the way quite naturally situated on the territory of Forca Real that the domain bears its name.

A FAMILY AFFAIR ....
Lands surrounding the domain were given up for a long time, giving way to the scrubland.

In 1989 Jean-Paul Henriques by crush for this site and his extraordinary panorama decides to purchase the domain and to rehabilitate the place by transplanting of the vineyard and by renewing the old buildings.

In 1998 his son Cyril takes up the torch. In synergy they work on the coherence of the various countries and the vines ensuring that each wine its own expression.

The love of the land, passion of wine, expertise and rigor, investments followed the oenological help shape a range of exceptional wines.
