OJOS DEL GUADIANA, our widest range of wines, produced under the Appellation of Origin LA MANCHA, bears the name of one of the most important rivers in Spanish geography: Guadiana. This river has the peculiarity of going subterranean in certain zones, appearing and disappearing in different places. The EYES (Ojos) of the river mark the historical place where the river emerges to the surface again, which makes this a unique place in the plain of La Mancha.

Medianiles comes from the word “Medianera” that, when talking about farming, refers to the limits or borderlines between estates. This is why we wanted to portray different farmlands delimited by lines on their design, showing different colors and shapes which represent the great diversity in our land.
Our organic vineyards are certified yearly by CERTIFOOD-Certificate of Organic Production, to ensure and guarantee that their production is organic and vegan friendly. They mature in a special microclimate of cold winters and dry, hot summers that allow best maturation conditions.

In the bullfighting culture, the JIJONES race is legendary: with their red hair and their characteristic fierceness, they are one of the races from which the current Spanish fighting bull proceeds. The brand of this breeding is a fleur-de-lis, and that is also the symbol of our JIJONES wines, arriving with the ambition of becoming a reference, like the fighting bulls it is named after.

About us

Company details

Villarrubia de los Ojos is surrounded by a privileged geography: Between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, in the foothills of the Sierra Calderina, spurs of the Montes the Toledo, and by the vast plain of La Mancha. Our lands are watered by the Cigüela and Guadiana rivers and comprising such singular events as the Ojos del Guadiana (naming our flagship brand of D.O. La Mancha wines), or the Tablas de Daimiel, a natural wetland, and one of the most important Natural Parks in Spain. In these lands our associates grow indigenous varieties from La Mancha, as Airen, our white grape par excellence, or Cencibel, which is the name given in La Mancha to Tempranillo, the real “Tinta del País”. But also non indigenous varieties that have adapted to perfection, developing, thanks to our climate and soil characteristics, very special organoleptic properties, like Verdejo, Chardonnay, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot…

Our vineyards grow in a land with a composition and structure of crucial importance in grape production and therefore, in the quality of wine, as it is the ideal means for the vines’ metabolism: a deep subsoil that can be explored by roots to extract water reserves.

Thanks to excellent climate conditions for vines: hot and dry summers, and cold winters with low rainfall, the vineyards hardly ever needs phytosanitary treatments, which guarantees, year after year, a select raw material that makes unique and special the qualities of our wines.
