In Situ Wines

For years, the hillsides of Mt. Paidahuen have been a meeting ground for Aconcagua Valley inhabitants. Today, these slopes are home to the In Situ vineyard, where enigmatic rock drawings from ages past remain intact among native plant life and grapevines, symbolizing a union between past and present Aconcagua. The In Situ philosophy is to create wines that reflect the unique character of the Aconcagua Valley. Through our careful winemaking techniques, we strive to capture the full expression of the vineyard’s terroir in every bottle.

About us

Company details

Viña San Esteban was founded José Vicente, an established grape producer, and his son Horacio, a Bordeaux-trained winemaker, to produce quality Aconcagua Valley wines. Both father and son are proud to participate in the long-standing tradition of Chilean viticulture, and the lands which encompass the vineyard and winery have been in the Vicente family for generations.

Horacio has a rich and diverse background in both winegrowing and winemaking. He has held positions in France at Château Mouton Rothschild and Mouton Cadet, and in the United States at Chalone Vineyard, one of the first boutique wineries in California. These experiences have undoubtedly helped Viña San Esteban capture numerous regional, national, and international awards for winemaking excellence.

The Aconcagua Valley’s unique combination of soil, light, and water also plays an important role in the successes of Viña San Esteban. The Upper Aconcagua terroirs are well-suited to winegrowing, producing a wide variety of quality grapes, and the In Situ family of wines, in particular, was created to showcase these terroirs as a premier winemaking region of Chile.

Today, Horacio Vicente makes his home in the Aconcagua Valley, along with his wife and children.
