FUNCKENHAUSEN relates to our past and to a place where some of our ancestors originally come from. Despite this rather traditional background, the Funckenhausen line of wines best expresses the coexistence of different generations from our family working together at the winery. Funckenhausen seeks to offer consumers a seasonal blends in a 1 liter bottle , "because 750ml are not enough to share these wines! A different aesthetic approach with the same standard of quality as in all of our other wines.
This line of wines presents young and fruit forward wines. They reflect the generosity of our terroir highlighting the differential characteristics of each varietal. A brief time of oak aging adds complexity to wines that are meant to be enjoyed in any kind of ocation.

Stands for exclusive wines. Differential labors on specific parcels of soils with a higher presence of rock conglomerates provide us with grapes of higher concentration to be reflected in great body and personality of our wines. A 12 month barrel aging in French and American oak barrels adds tobacco and vanilla notes which perfectly integrate with the intrinsic notes of each varietal after a prolonged aging in the bottle.

La Espera Gran Reserva - Blend K.H. : is a very limited production (5000 bottles per year approximately) of a remarkable blend made out of one of the finest selections of Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah grapes from our vineyard. A wine with a composition that varies year to year to reflect the best blend of each harvest. Low controlled yields hand harvested in 16 kg cases, an exhaustive selection, a winemaking process in small tanks, long maceration periods, 18 months of barrel aging in new French and American oak barrels and 24 months of bottle aging, turn “La Espera Gran Reserva - Blend K. H.” into a wine of great structure, complexity and firm but elegant tannins.
Funckenhausen Vineyards - Kurt Heinlein (to be released 2018): it takes time and a lot of work to understand your place, soils and vineyards, this wine is a reflection of our constant thrive to best interpret our most demanding and interesting soils. Our vineyard is currently one of the highest in San Rafael at 850 mts. Its location on a hill and geological composition proved to be something extremely particular in the traditional southern productive oasis. A parcel selection that is characterized by rock conglomerates and calcium carbonite and sulphite deposits leads to vines that struggle and yearly provide us with very small clusters of Malbec which we vinify separatedly and age for two years in 225 lts oak barrels. A prolonged aging in the bottle will lead to a very complex wine to be discovered.
Funckenhausen Vineyards - Kurt Heinlein is a tribute to Kurt Heinlein, founder of this family owned winery and visioner. He built his legacy based on instinct and hard work and his decision to buy 330 has. of virgin land to plant vines when he was more than 70 years old are all a reflection of this.
La Espera Extra Brut - Charmat is the result of a blend of Chardonnay and Viognier undergoing a long charmat seconf fermentation that will preserve its very aromatic expression of white and tropical fruit. Its fine crispiness and refreshing acidity add tension and fluidity to its palate which is followed by a complete aftertaste.
La Espera Extra Brut Rose – Champenoise is a 100% Pinot Noir Rose characterized by its complex nose accomplished by a second fermentation that lasts for at least 20 months, a fine palate due to its small and persistent bubbles, and a complete aftertaste.
Funckenhausen Vineyards is a family owned small-medium size winery located in the region of 25 de Mayo - San Rafael - Mendoza - Argentina.
Here on a previously unexplored terroir (only producers from this appelation), Kurt Heinlein would set up the foundations of a winery that was built to honor the past (Funcke Family) and leave a legacy to the future generations.
