“Pinot 64″ Brut

Pinot Noir is widely grown in Oltrepò Pavese, but the soils of the Montecalvo Versiggia hills are especially fitted for its growing. Their calcareous nature enhances the best qualities of this grape variety. The growing of Pinot Noir is also helped by the peculiar microclimate of our area with medium-hot summer days and cool nights. We harvest the grapes in the last decade of August to keep a higher acidity. The grapes are carefully hand harvested and are taken quickly to the winery in small baskets; the pressing of the grapes is soft so to extract only the best aromas. The Pinot 64 rests on the lees for at least 36 months. The dégorgement à la glace is performed by us in our cellar.

We are now converting to organic farming, but we have always been committed to a sustainable approach to vinegrowing, using a minimum of pesticides.

“NorEma” Rosé Pas Dosé Vintage

Oltrepò Pavese Metodo Classico Pinot Nero Rosé DOCG
A vintage sparkling wine made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in our own vineyards in Montecalvo Versiggia, an area in the eastern part of the Oltrepò Pavese region very suitable for the growing of Pinot Noir. We pick the grapes in late August, harvesting them by hand and taking them quickly to our winery in small baskets. Its rosé colour is obtained naturally by maceration of the grapes. It rests at least 30 months on the lees. We chose the pas dosé style to let you fully appreciate the true, natural quality of our Pinot Noir.

We are now converting to organic farming, but we have always been committed to a sustainable approach to vinegrowing, using a minimum of pesticides.

“Campo Dottore” Riesling

Produced from Riesling grapes only, this wine shows the classic elegant bouquet of the Rheinriesling and a bright, natural acidity given by the soil. We grow our Riesling grapes in the northern part of our estate, where the limestone-rich soils are especially fitted for the growing of white grapes.

We are now converting to organic farming, but we have always been committed to a sustainable approach to vinegrowing, using a minimum of pesticides.

About us

Company details

Tradition, expertise and passion for quality since 1964.
These are the keywords of our philosopy of production. The Calatroni winery is a small, family-run winery located on the hills of the village of Montecalvo Versiggia in the Versa Valley, in the heart of Oltrepò Pavese. The winery was founded in 1964, when Luigi Calatroni, at the end of his tenant-farming contract, bought a vineyard from his former landowner. In the following years, the winery developed under the guide of Fausto and Marisa Calatroni. Now, with the third generation of vinegrowers, the experience of the tradition is enriched by the modern agronomic and oenologic techniques brought by the young brothers Cristian (37 years-old) and Stefano (32 years-old).

The constant technical improvement led to an ever-increasing quality of the grapes we grow in our own vineyards. The property vineyards (about 15 hectares) are located in Montecalvo Versiggia at an altitude varying from 180 to 320 metres above mean sea level, in an area very suited for the growing of several grapes.

We really hope that our work and passion will help raising the profile of the Oltrepò Paves as a quality wine region. Our region has a great potential, but it’s still not fully developed.
