50th Parallel Estate 2016 Riesling

The mouth is in for a treat as only the best Riesling components come together in this 2016 offering. Lime leaf, pear, and white Rainier cherries greet upon entry. Green apple and pronounced granite mineral elements finish off with racy acidity and tension completing what will likely again be the must have Riesling of 2016.

50th Parallel Estate 2016 Gewurtztraminer

Concentrated tropical melon fruits present themselves first and foremost. Lilikoi, Orange Marmalade jam and Kiwifruit are also represented in a mouthful of flavours open to other interpretation, as this vintage is showing so many interesting characters coming from our unique clay soils that this wine is predominantly planted in. There is a nice long line of acid start to finish to integrate the wine's slight sweetness and tropical personality.

50th Parallel Estate 2015 Pinot Noir

A full-bodied wine from a dry vintage in the Central Okanagan Valley that first shows off fully developed flavors of dark red fruits like ripe Staccato cherry, black raspberry, and blackberry. Dried rosemary and sage, saffron, and truffle explode to take over the mid palate blend seamlessly with earthy minerality. A fresh, vibrant and poised Pinot Noir.

50th Parallel 2014 UnParallelled Pinot Noir

Distinctive character, with rich palate coating textures and lots of layers and depth - this is benchmark Wine Appearance: Brooding dark purple edges with an intense dark red rose coloured center.  Aroma: Savoury herbs and warm earth, hint of rose petal, toasted walnut and anise. Palate: An intense entry showcasing the Okanagan spirit of Pinot Noir: ripe black staccatto cherry, black current, baked blueberries, and a breath of roasted red pepper. The initial power gives way to layers of structured tannin that promise years of drinkability but still with the silky presence to drink now. The finish presents the impression of freshly toasted cashews, black pepper, and slatey minerality. The truly quintessential Okanagan Pinot Noir.

Our Story
Pinot-People-Place

Curtis Krouzel and Sheri-Lee Turner-Krouzel along with their highly skilled team have created a world-class wine destination only 15 minutes from the Kelowna airport by crafting international award winning wines while hosting five-star events and unique catered dining experiences. In 2018, they are scheduled to open the next phase of the estate which includes a new events space, fine dining restaurant, extensive wine cave system and a glass ‘Transparent’ tasting room.

50th Parallel Estate has been built from scratch to create a wine destination experience that is second to none.

The project is being built in stages. In 2009, the couple hand-planted the first 10 acres of vines. Curtis then engineered a planting machine tuned to the needs of the steep rocky property and now planting is compete with an impressive 50 acres now under vine. They are now sourcing additional new properties to expand their vineyards. In 2011, the first wines were released from 50th Parallel; a modest 700 cases. In 2016, the winery produced close to 14,000 cases of wine. The first portion of the main winery building opened for harvest in 2014 and the expansion, including the restaurant and new tasting center, will be open in spring 2018.
