What if the hallmarks of great Rieslings happened to align with the most fundamental qualities of Nova Scotia wines: low in alcohol and refreshing — energized by natural acidity — and, more importantly, an ageing ability measured in decades. Since 2012, we have been exploring the many facets of this innate synergy, culminating in a 2016 vintage that is electric yet enticing even in its infancy.
A real sponge for terroir, Riesling is a vinifera varietal that transparently conveys the uniqueness of specific sites, prompting us to assemble a harmonious cuvée crafted from four parcels along the Bay of Fundy, all blessed with distinct soils and tidal microclimates. To accentuate the singular yet unifying qualities specific to these sites, the wines were wild fermented, relying on indigenous yeast strains from the unique sites to allow for the natural expression of each vineyard.
Serve chilled. A perfect match for battered fish tacos with a touch of spice, lobster mac n cheese, or grilled root vegetables with goat cheese.
Conceived by Canadian winemaking icon Peter J. Gamble, Nova 7 is a proprietary blend of signature aromatic whites, highlighting select Muscat grape varieties. Nova Scotias iconic wine is gently handcrafted from grapes grown along the Bay of Fundy. A category unto itself, its lively spritz, inherent acidity and elegant aromatics combine for a seductive expression of coastal terroir.
Enjoy Nova 7 chilled on its own as a crowd-pleasing apéritif or enjoy with fresh seafood, spicy fare, or summer salads. At a lower 7.0% alcohol, Nova 7 is remarkably refreshing on a hot summer afternoon, wonderfully festive during the holiday season and perfectly suited for any celebration.
Made from 100% Nova Scotia grapes, part of the wines broad appeal comes from its artisan nature – very minimal intervention in the cellar means each vintage reveals something special and unique from the other.
Great wine regions of the world have created their own wine appellations — such as Chianti, Bordeaux, and Burgundy — to embody a superior quality and style of wine unique to their place of origin. Nova Scotia has newly launched its own wine appellation to showcase a fresh, crisp, premium white wine unique to its terroir.
There is no other grape growing region like Nova Scotia. A wine with distinct character, Tidal Bay brilliantly reflects its birthplace: the terroir, coastal breezes, cooler climate and our winemakers world-class craftsmanship. Only those wines that display the regions distinct characteristics and meet a rigorous set of standards assessed by a technical committee are approved to use its wine appellation.
In little more than a decade, Benjamin Bridge has distinguished itself by its dedication to time proven techniques, expert guidance, and most importantly its acclaimed, distinctive wines.
The Benjamin Bridge vineyards are located in the heart of the Gaspereau Valley on the Bay of Fundy, where the cool climate bears an uncanny affinity with the Champagne region of France. Our experienced winemakers work in collaboration with international experts to produce world-class Méthode Classique sparkling wines and limited edition luxury wines.
Our innovative sparkling wines display the hallmarks of classic prestige cuvées from Champagne, but with a Nova Scotia signature. “They are, without question, the best sparkling wines I have tasted in Canada,” says Tony Aspler, Canadas most renowned wine authority.
Our collection of hand crafted fine wines, including perennial sell-out Nova 7, together with our sparkling wine program, have helped raise the profile of Nova Scotia terroir and its winemaking in Canada and internationally.
