Muscadet Sèvre et Maine sur Lie - Clos des Allées

The Clos des Allées is a place full of history, 2Ha 10 all in one piece edged with paths which where the borders of 3 seigniories at the end of 18th century, it gave birth to the village of Le Landreau. 75 owners existed according to Cassini’s maps.
This clos, birth-place of the Luneau-Guilbault family, is adjoining the cellar of the domain. This plot, planted in 1970, sees its roots plunge into altered schist stone of the armorican massif and rolled pebbles. About us

Company details

Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin is 20 kilometers far from of Nantes, south of the Loire. The Domaine has 45 hectares of vines planted on sunny slopes in the Sèvre et Maine district. From the middle of 17th century the Melon, a grape variety originally from Burgundy and now often called Muscadet, has been planted in the vineyards of Domaine Luneau-Papin. Here Muscadet has found its ideal location grown on Mica-schist, Shists, Granit, Serpentinite and Gneiss rocks.
We are the ninth generation of wine producers, union of 2 families of vine growers, Luneau & Papin’s families. We are full of respect for the experience of the generations that preceded us. We work with Pierre-Marie’s parents, Pierre & Monique and are together  continuing the family tradition producing a Muscadet that reflects its Terroir and which has established the high reputation of the
Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin.
Because of its exceptional location spread on 4 villages, Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin can offer 11 different cuvées of Muscadet Sèvre & Maine from Le Landreau, Vallet, le Loroux-Bottereaux and La Chapelle Heulin.
The most beautiful plots are harvested by hand. Wines are vinified and matured separately, respecting the identity and the unique character of each terroir. Underground vats paved with glass tiles are most commonly used. Inox tanks and wooden barrels  (Taransaud, Stockinger) are also used to complete our ancestral method. Organic cultivation of soils has been spread year after year our different plots. The domain is Organic certified on vintage 2016.
The whole domain is cultivated on Biodynamic way but this is not certified.
Valorization of Muscadet Crus is being processed since 2001. Our cuvée “Excelsior” highlights a great terroir on Micashists planted in 1936 and will soon be recognized as part of the appellation ”Goulaine”. The fruits from this plot are picked at the very end of harvest and juice is matured on lees for 24 to 36 months.
Our family built and renewed an old shed into a cellar. It takes very good care of vintages of 3 cuvees L d’Or, Excelsior and Terre de pierre, some of them being 40 years old…
Every year Domaine Pierre Luneau-Papin is named in specialist magazines, guides, press Favorite of guides such as R.V.F, Bettane &
Dessauve, Gault & Millau, Hugh Johnson, Parker and of specialized press such as Wines & Spirits, Thuries, RVF, Cuisine & Vins de France, Régal, Saveurs, le Point, Wall Street Journal, Decanter, Herald Tribune, New York Times magazines...

Pebbles after rocks, we are building, together with our team, the future of the domain. One generation handing the vineyards to another, we try to understand, know and write a harmonious and generous symphony.
