2014 Riesling

This wine is clean and elegant with sparkling yellow and green hues. Attractive floral notes mingle with green apple and lime aromas. The palate is clean and crisp with a dry finish. Fresh apple flavours with muted mineral characters linger on the tongue giving the wine a pleasant and long aftertaste.

Vintage & Winemaking Notes: An early budburst and early strong growth was followed by warm temperatures through November and December resulting in an excellent flowering and fruit set. A dryer than usual summer and autumn led to perfect ripening conditions post veraison, with the wet humid conditions that adversely affected many of Australia’s warm climate wine regions during veraison not appearing in the high altitudes of the Southern Highlands, and therefore disease pressures were low and excellent clean fruit was harvested across all varieties. The winter rains from 2013 ensured a healthy crop load with intense varietal character but with moderate acidity.
Riesling was harvested on the 2nd of March, almost 3 weeks earlier than usual. The fruit displayed lemon and lime characters with good acidity.

Wine Analysis: Alcohol = 11.2%, pH = 3.06, TA = 7.6g/L, Residual Sugar = 6.7g/L

Fruit Source: 100 % Southern Highlands from our “Yaraandoo” vineyard
Fruit Type: 100% Riesling
Peak Drinking: 2014-2024

2015 Blanc de Blancs

This wine is a blend of specially selected batches of Chardonnay from our Yaraandoo vineyard, which was hand harvested and fermented separately before careful blending to produce this 2015 Cuvee. This wine is bottle fermented and aged on lees for 12 months which gives it distinctive yeast complexity to complement the rich fruit characters backed with palate cleansing acidity.

Vintage & Winemaking Notes: An early budburst and early strong growth was followed by warm temperatures through late Spring and early Summer resulting in an excellent flowering and fruit set. A dryer than usual Spring/Summer led to perfect ripening conditions post veraison, therefore disease pressures were low and excellent clean fruit was harvested across all varieties. The winter rains from 2014 ensured a healthy crop load with intense varietal character but with moderate acidity.

Fruit Source: 100 % Southern Highlands from our “Yaraandoo” vineyard.

Wine Analysis: Alcohol = 12.0%, pH = 3.07, TA = 7.1g/L, Residual Sugar = 5g/L

2015 Quattro Bianchi

This wine is a blend of four varieties that thrive in the Southern Highlands. The spiciness of the Pinot Gris complements the tropical notes from the Sauvignon Blanc with the crisp acidity coming from the Riesling. The palate is full flavoured and textured from the small addition of Arneis.

About us

Company details

Tertini Wines is dedicated to producing premium, cool climate wines with a particular interest in alternative varieties. The wines are subtle and elegant, with excellent fruit characters arising from the long, slow ripening period and our commitment to hand pruning, hand picking and low cropping. High natural acidity gives the wines a clean finish and good cellaring potential.

Our “Yaraandoo” vineyard is located near the historic village of Berrima in the Southern Highlands, an emerging cool climate region in New South Wales, at the relatively high altitude of 715 metres.

Although the vineyard is young, with the first plantings in 2000, it has produced outstanding fruit from the start. Our first real vintage was 2005 and the first wine we completed (the ’05 Tertini Riesling) won a Gold Medal and a Trophy in the first wine show we entered! Each wine and vintage since then has brought more medals from wine shows and accolades from Australia’s leading wine writers.

These outstanding results from young vines show great promise for the future and confirm the potential of both the vineyard and the region.

Our Winemakers
Our viticulturist is a cool climate/Southern Highlands specialist who applies all his knowledge to obtaining the best possible results in the vineyard. Grapes are hand pruned and then hand picked to ensure that only the best fruit is selected each year. Our winemakers are also cool climate specialists who apply their expertise and experience through careful, meticulous handling in the winery.
