Callet

Varieties
Callet, red native variety grown in Son Roig.

 Organic farming

 Winemaking
During two weeks it is gently pumped over the cap in stainless steel tanks and open barrels at a controlled temperature of 25°C. After malolactic fermentation, it is aged during 10 months in French oak barrels of 500 liters. This wine has not been cold stabilized and, therefore, can present tartaric precipitations.

Tasting notes
Due to its characteristics and aging in oak, this wine evolves significantly when stored under appropriate conditions, developing new nuances, finesse and aromatic potential. It has a ripe cherry color with violet reflections. In the nose there is subtle appearance of floral and dry leaves, also good mature fruit, like figs and presence of dairy (toffee) and toast aroma. In the mouth, it has a soft entry with volume, balanced and fleshy palate (slightly acidic) with soft tannins and a good aftertaste. It combines with consistent dishes, strong cheeses, red meats, game.

Son Blanc

Varieties
Mainly Chardonnay with a small Riesling proportion.

Organic farming

Winemaking
Pellicular maceration is done before pressing. The must flower and the first fraction of the pressing is fermented in new French oak barrels at a controlled temperature of 18°C. It is aged during 6 months on its lees following the batonnage technique.

Tasting notes
On the nose, there is balance between the fruitiness of the varieties, ripe fruits, such as peach, pineapple and melon, and also herbaceous and tertiary smoky and toast notes. The palate is dense and balanced with a citrus acidity and a complex and persistent finish. This wine can be enjoyed immediately, but kept under appropriate conditions will develop new nuances in bottle during the early years. It combines well with mild meats, seasoned fish and semi-hard cheeses.

About us

Company details

In two beautiful locations near the Majorcan village of Algaida, 14 different native and international varieties are being ecologically grown in 17 hectares of family owned grounds.

The Son Reus domain, on the road from Algaida to Pina, is close to a medieval lordship mansion that - after the Christian conquest in the XIII century - gave name to these lands and replaced the one named Butibalausí, original Moorish name given to the same farmstead. Soils have clay loam composition with abundant percentage of iron oxide that gives them a coppery red color.

Son Roig is the other domain, located in an idyllic landscape of slightly undulating limestone and clay grounds, surrounded by almond, carob and fig trees and receiving shelter from the Randa and Son Roig mounts.

Since the very beginning, the cultivation of the vineyards has been organic. That means, respectful for agricultural cycles and non-use of fertilizers or synthetic chemicals. From pruning vines until harvest, exhaustive control is done of both the health of the plant and the quality of the grapes.
