Château du Moulin-à-Vent - Wine & Spirits - TOP 100 Wineries of 2017

Château du Moulin à Vent has earned a place among the Wine & Spirits Magazine's Top 100 Wineries of the Year!

A significant achievement for Jean-Jacques & Édouard Parinet, along with Brice Laffond, which rewards an intense and passionate work, in both the vineyard and the cellar. Ranking results from the tasting of 15.000+ wines, according to the domains tasting regularity over a year. Other awarded wineries: Antinori, Henri Boillot, Burlotto, Occipinti, Penfolds, Krug, Roederer, Vega Sicilia and Zind-Humbrecht.

Jean-Jacques & Edouard Parinet took over in 2009; the domain has 30 hectars of vineyards, exclusively in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation,  and "arguably constitute collectively the largest single share of top acreage in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation" according to David Schildknecht (The Wine Advocate). In 2016, 5 hectares were acquired in the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation; 3 of their terroirs will be classified 'Premier Cru' by the 2018 harvest.

About us

Company details

Emblematic estate since 1732, the Château du Moulin-à-Vent sits in the very heart of the appellation, 200 yards behind the historic windmill. Formerly called the Château des Thorins, the estate changed its name when the AOC was born in 1936, but the Château still stands on the flagship terroir of the appellation, as shown by this pleasant anecdote: in 1872, on the model of the Burgundian villages, and as Gevrey became Gevrey-Chambertin or Puligny became Puligny-Montrachet, the village of Romanèche took the name of its most famous terroir to become Romanèche-Thorins.

Today, the family-owned estate has 74 acres of vineyards, exclusively in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation, and ‘‘arguably constitute collectively the largest single share of top acreage in the Moulin-à-Vent appellation’’, according to The Wine Advocate. The Parinet family, along with Brice Laffond, foster a strategy of excellence and a meticulous approach guided by the very identity of these exceptionnal terroirs.
