EL LAGAR DE ISILLA VERDEJO

Grape variety: 100% Verdejo

Tasting notes: Clean and bright straw yellow colour with light green tints and notes of ripe fruits such as apples and pear. Wafts of hay and tropical fruits with hints of passion fruit. A well balanced crisp fresh and easy to drink wine with a lingering silky finish with recurring notes of ripe fruit. Time spent in contact with the lees gives this delicious wine volume and length.

Gastronomy: Served chilled as an excellent pairing with seafood, rice and a variety of fish dishes

Grape variety: 90% Tempranillo and 10% Albillo

Tasting notes: Clean and bright red raspberry colour. Fresh fruit aromas (wild strawberries) with delicate floral shades. Warm and silky on the palate with a well-balanced acidity. The taste is very fresh and persistent leaving a floral and fruity aftertaste.

Grape vaariety: 100% Tempranillo

Tasting notes: Clean and bright. Red cherry colour with purplish tones.  Deep ripe berry and strawberry aroma. The taste is young, fresh and intense. Smooth on the palate leaving a red and black fruit remembrance.

Grape variety: 95% Tempranillo and  5% Cabernet Sauvignon

Ageing: 5 months in American and French oak Barrels.

Tasting notes: Intense red cherry colour. Leaving deep reds in the rim. Outstanding red and black fruit scents; especially blackberry and currants. Very spiced flavour with bodied. Tastes of crystallized fruits combined with an elegant and fine wood touch. Long and persistent flavour.

Tasting notes: Intense and deep red cherry colour with light violet tones. Aroma of ripe fruit (berries & currants) with a slight dairy and spiced shade. Full bodied. Well-structured and balanced. Long finish.

Grape variety: 100% Tempranillo

Ageing: 18 months in new French oak barrel. Barrels of 225 litres medium toasted (95%) and fully toasted (5%).

Tasting notes: Clean and bright. Deep red cherry colour with a slight tile hue.  Very complex aromas; wild ripe fruits (currants, berries and black plums), combined with clean leather, black chocolate, toffee and bay scents. Smooth and delicate on the palate at first, followed by an explosion of different flavours; coffee, black tobacco and liquorice. Full bodied, intense, persistent and well structured. Sweet tannins perfectly balanced with the acidity and alcohol content. We suggest decanting it for at least 30 minutes before drinking.

Grape variety: 100% Tempranillo 

Ageing: completing until 18 months in brand new French oak barrels. Barrels of 225 and 400 litres medium toasted (95%)

Tasting Notes: Clean and bright with a very deep red cherry colour. On the nose it has complex aromas of black fruit compote (dried fruits, blackberry, black currant, etc.) in perfect harmony with essences of cuisine, balsamic and cocoas given by an excellent French oak. Smooth and delicate on the palate at first, followed by a explosion of different flavours; rip fruit, coffee, black mint chocolate and toffee. Full bodied, long persistent and well structured. Sweet tannins perfectly balanced with the acidity and alcohol content. This wine is very well defined, with character and personality. We suggest decanting it for at least one hour before drinking.

Gastronomy: Ideal with tapas, white and red grilled meat, roasts and desserts.

EL LAGAR DE ISILLA COLECCIÓN ESPECIAL RESERVA DE LA FAMILIA

 In 2013 to mark the inauguration of our Hotel we have produced this exceptional wine to celebrate special occasion. 
This wine is only produced in great vintages. The production is limited, just 1.168 Bottles, and every bottle has a different design.

Grape variety: 85% Tinta del País,  8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot

Ageing: completing until 24 months in brand new French oak barrels. Barrels of 300 litres medium toasted 

Tasting Notes:  It is a very complex, powerful, persistent, elegant wine with ripe fruit.

RECEPTION PRESIDENT OF COSTA RICA

Reception of the President of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solís Rivera, in their Embassy in Madrid.

He received a bottle of our best wine “Colección Especial Reserva de la Famila”.

Pilar Zapatero was the person who gave it to him.

Company details

Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla produces and markets wines under Appellation Ribera del Duero since 1995.

Bodegas El Lagar de Isilla combines different philosophies: wine tourism, gastronomy and wine making.

The company has a traditional Castilian restaurant in the city centre of Aranda de Duero, where you can enjoy a delicious roasted lamb and other specialities from the region.
 
Under the restaurant, 12 metres below ground level, we find the historical Wine Cellar- Museum from the 15th century. It can be visited every day of the year.

18 kms. away from Aranda de Duero, in the village named La Vid,  we have a modern winery endowed with the latest technologies, where we currently elaborate our wines.

We have 40 Ha. of vineyards in clay-sandy soil. The half of them are young and the other half are 60 to 90 years old. Our production is controlled, we leave 8 bunches on each plant. The grapes are picked by hand and we have a double sorting table, one before the de-stemmer to sort the bunches and another after, to sort the berries.

Nowadays we produce 250.000 Kgs approx. of Tempranillo or Tinta del País. Our wines are:

  • El Lagar de Isilla Verdejo, White wine made of 100% Verdejo, DO Rueda
  • El Lagar de Isilla Rosado, rosé made of 100% black Tempranillo.
  • El Lagar de Isilla Joven, unoaked wine.
  • El Lagar de Isilla Roble, aged 5 months in oak.
  • El Lagar de Isilla Crianza, aged for 2 years, with 14 months in oak.
  • El Lagar de Isilla Reserva, aged for 3 years with 16 to 20 months in oak.
  • El Lagar de Isilla 9 meses, small production 9 months in oak.
  • El Lagar de Isilla Vendimia Seleccionada, Premium brand made with the best grapes from the oldest vines. Aged for 2 years, with 10 to 14 months in oak. 
  • El Lagar de Isilla Colección Especial Reserva de la Familia, limited edition made for a special moment, the inaguration of our Hotel.
  •  La Casona de La Vid, sweet vine made of 100% syrah.
Our aim is to obtain a limited production of very good quality wines, combining tradition and modern technologies.
