Boulder Road Shiraz 2014

The wine has a lively purple red colour with exceptional aromatic flavours of violets and white pepper with undertones of “rooibos” tea. The palate is soft and elegant with a savoury mid-palate and dry spicy finish.

Winemaker’s comment:
The 2014 vintage were very fruit forward with soft tannins. The winter of 2013 was very wet which allowed the buildup of very good water reserves. It was cold till late in the season which made initial growth of the vineyards slow. Rain in November caused an increase of decease pressure and increased the spray programs. Rain during end January and beginning February with subsequent warm weather afterwards caused very fast ripening of the grapes and thus sped up the harvesting. We managed to pick our grapes at the right level of ripeness and great colour intensity.

Merlot 2015

On the palate and nose it shows layered flavours of black cherries, plums, Christmas pudding and a savory element, ending with a glazed red cherry sweetness and a touch of dark chocolate. It has fine fruity tannins, well integrated with the wood tannins. This wine has a minimum aging potential of 15 years, but potentially many more in a good cellar. Decanting is advised.

Winemaker’s Comments:
The 2015 vintage was an early one, providing fruit forward wines with
soft tannins. The winter of 2014 was wet which allowed good soil water
retention, but the coolness of winter and spring delayed growth initially.
Rain in November as the season warmed created some disease
pressure, but this dissipated heading into December. Rain during end
January and beginning February with subsequent warm weather
afterwards caused very fast ripening of the grapes and thus sped up
the harvesting. We managed to pick our grapes at an optimum level of
ripeness, with great colour intensity and ideal phenolics.

Aeon 2013

Favorable, cool conditions prevailed from the pea bud stage to véraison, and December was characterized by less wind than usual. The advantages of these circumstances were less water usage by the plant, easier canopy management and less input required to manage vineyards.

The beginning of the ripening period was very hot, with the mercury spiking above 35°C for four days in mid-January. This was followed by the same conditions at the end of January and beginning of February.
