On the palate and nose it shows layered flavours of black cherries, plums, Christmas pudding and a savory element, ending with a glazed red cherry sweetness and a touch of dark chocolate. It has fine fruity tannins, well integrated with the wood tannins. This wine has a minimum aging potential of 15 years, but potentially many more in a good cellar. Decanting is advised.
The 2015 vintage was an early one, providing fruit forward wines with
soft tannins. The winter of 2014 was wet which allowed good soil water
retention, but the coolness of winter and spring delayed growth initially.
Rain in November as the season warmed created some disease
pressure, but this dissipated heading into December. Rain during end
January and beginning February with subsequent warm weather
afterwards caused very fast ripening of the grapes and thus sped up
the harvesting. We managed to pick our grapes at an optimum level of
ripeness, with great colour intensity and ideal phenolics.
