The Secco-Bertani “Vintage Edition” pays homage to a memory that has become a collective myth, evoking sensations, emotions and ways of thinking about the past that can enrich the present. The project foresees the reproduction of a Secco-Bertani wine according to the recipe, style and taste of old, returning to the original packaging of the 1930s.
The Novare method is a return to our origins, the valorisation of the natural and unusual qualities of our land and its special link with Corvina. Everything we do comes from our desire to bring to light the extraordinary heritage of farming knowledge that has taken root in our land through the years. Therefore Novare is a new creation, an original interpretation of a unique experience.
This was the first wine produced by the winery in around 1870 on the hills of the historic site in Valpantena. The first interpretation of a great quality wine in the Verona area, the Secco Bertani is still a timeless classic today and a milestone in winemaking, a true reference model. The uniqueness and prestige that took Italian winemaking to the rest of the world, earned it the royal warrant at the start of the 1900s.
AN AUTHENTIC IDENTITY Being consistent with our most authentic identity is fundamental for us here at Bertani. Having an identity means staying faithful to authenticity and transparency; it means acting responsibly and making constant progress without betraying our own identity or vision.
The world of wine has spent years thinking that it should listen to the market and modify its style accordingly. Today, the consumer asks for identity, consistency, transparency and looks for truth and authenticity, so the producers behaviour is fundamental. These values were considered abstract in the past, but today they are becoming more important economically.
A fine wine today, to be considered such, must meet certain basic requirements: a solid tradition, with the constant ability of the winery to live up to its image; a consistent style, especially regarding the suitability of the production area; commitment to quality, not just excellence of the product but also of the production processes; close links with the place of origin; strict and transparent production methods (always state what you do).
It is important to stay the same and to be consistent with your territory, to enhance your real specificity and your image (this is the case of Amarone Bertani, which has had exactly the same packaging since 1958), while carrying out research in the vineyard and on production methods… this is our identity, this is the concept, the value and strength of “being Bertani”.
