Cramele Recas exceed Ten Million Bottle Export in 2018

Cramele Recas, Romania’s largest winery, reports strong growth for 2017 achieving exports up 124% to Germany, 58% Netherlands and for the UK 18% over 2016 and overall exports have doubled since 2014 to eight million bottles in 2017.

Wine sales are expected to exceed ten million bottles for the first time in 2018.  Romanian wines will benefit by offering well-made, affordable wine at a time when European wines are under pressure from the euro and reduced availability due short harvests.  Customers will increasingly look outside Europe for a well-priced wine which promises good availability at attractive price points.

With premium wine exports up over 800,000 bottles, the winery is planning a range of new premium products for launch over the next few months. To achieve this growth, contracts have been signed to expand the winery to produce an additional four million litres in 2018, bringing total capacity up to 30 million litres.

‘We firmly believe our strong exports are driven first and foremost by our growing reputation for long term flexible production of great wines. We pride ourselves on our high service levels and flexibility towards our customers which work together to build strong working relationships,’ states Elvira Cox, export director.
