The FOURNIER Père et Fils winery goes back generations of winemakers and is located in the renowned winegrowing village of Verdigny close to Sancerre.
The winery goes back several generations of winemakers. In 1950, Paul Fournier takes on the family wine growing business with only 2 hectares. It takes him 9 years before he can harvest his first grapes to make his first wine. Then in the late sixties, two of his sons succeed him; Claude Fournier and Jaques Fournier who devoted themselves with the same passion and dedication to the overall management, winemaking and vineyard management. Maison Fournier Père & Fils has gradually grown to more than 60 hectares in the early nineties to 130 hectares today. The vineyards are to be found in the best terroirs of the three famous appellations of the Loire Valley wine regions: Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Menetou-Salon.
Consistent application and dedication recognising its intrinsic values and thus creating world-class Sauvignon Blanc exceeding all expectation.
But growth did not stop there as several other Domaines were acquired since. Domaine de Saint Romble (Sancerre) Domaine des Berthiers (J-C Dagueneau, Pouilly- Fumé) and Domaine Paul Corneau (Pouilly-Fumé) were successfully added. Maison Fournier has put all her efforts and skills into practice to build and structure this company to what it has become today. The wines are known for their consistency and high quality and are sold in more than 65 countries worldwide. They perfectly represent what these famous appellations stand for. Showing the intrinsic soil variations and values and thus creating world-class Sauvignon Blanc wines exceeding every expectation! The wines have been selected in the top 100 best wines worldwide and have won many awards in i.e “Concours Mondial du Sauvignon Blanc” as well as in the South Korean Wine Challenge. They have also been highlighted in many national and international wine guides and magazines like Guide Hachette 2017 and Wine Spectator 2017.
