At Roccapesta, we make quality wine; it’s our reason for being. Every day we strive to produce elegant red wines full of character, ideal for medium- and long-term ageing. We love to bring out the very best of the native grape varieties that we grow, and we do that in an environmentally friendly way. Our wine is made exclusively from our own grapes and vineyards. Only our experienced employees are allowed to tend our vines. We ferment our wines using only native yeasts, without any additives. At Roccapesta, in other words, we do it all ourselves; for better or worse, we are wholly responsible for how our wines taste.
We produce the following wines:
D.O.C.G. Morellino di Scansano,
D.O.C. Maremma Toscana,
I. G. T. Toscana.
The terroir where our vines grow is a mixture of rocks and clay and is difficult and laborious to work. The climate is typically Mediterranean. Hot, sunny days with clear, wind-swept skies alternating with cool, starry nights. Occasionally brief rains, sometimes heavy, manage to interrupt the beautiful summer weather.
Our vines are old ones, as well as newer. The old vineyard, planted in the 1970s, pairs with the more recent ones, where we have more than twenty selected Sangiovese clones growing, the hope of a better future, the dream of a wine of unrivalled balance, finesse and complexity.
This is Roccapesta today, and this is how I want it to be in the years to come.
