We decided to name our Chianti “Spigallo” in 2011, when we have changed the farm’s image and adopted a cock pecking a sheaf of wheat from the family crest as our logo.
Spigallo is produced only from selected farm grapes with a long fermentation at a controlled temperature in cements tanks and following short-termed maturation (6 months) in traditional Tuscan large chestnut wood barrels.
It is rich, full-bodied and perfectly balanced wine of intense ruby-red colour with purple hints. It is characterized by delicate bouquet of red roses and berries (black currant and blueberry). The taste is rich, with an important tannic structure featured by lively and slightly sweet tannins.
Grapes: 80% Sangiovese, 20% Merlot
Denomination: Chianti D.O.C.G.

The name Sassone derives from the word “sasso” in italian – the pebble, that are easy to find in the forest located in the neighbourhood of the vineyards. The presence of the same marl pebbles in the vineyards facilitates the temperature regulation and help the vines to give the bunches all the necessary nutrients and to maintain strong minerality and fresh taste of the wine.
Sassone is young and fresh wine with mineral lovely and vibrant acidity, pale golden in color. On the palate, this wine is light and crispy with a vibrant acidity structure. It displays fresh fruit aromas combined with mineral undertones. Beautifully balanced, with a clean lingering finish.

About us

Company details

The estate “Il Muro” has been owned by the Pancaro family for more than two centuries.
Its land has always been used for vine cultivation thanks to its favorable microclimate and particular environmental conditions that are ideal for producing high quality grapes, allowing to create wines in the most environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly way.
The potential of the soils (“galestro” is the Italian name for soil comprised of loose marl and limeston) and the temperate climate, characterized by a wide range of temperatures due to the closeness to the Alpe of Poti (1000 mt), are the perfect ingredients of a habitat that improves the organoleptic qualities of grapes and the health of the vines.
