Itsasmendi 7

The Selection, inimatable and original
Made since 2003 with two goals: to make a Txakoli that firstly has more body and structure using select grapes to accompany the exquisite gastronomy of the Basque Country and that secondly can last several years ageing in the bottle, like other vinicultural areas with highly regarded white wines.

This Txakoli is broad and unctuous on the palate, where the acidity drives the ripeness with balance; it starts out powerful and flavoursome and matures in the bottle to acquire harmony, complexity and elegance with the passage of time. A Txakoli that transmits the variables occurring with each year of vintage with its own personality. Enjoy its evolution and possibilities for laying down.

Itsasmendi 7 2014
2014 was a year of very good balance in the growth cycle. The high temperatures of the first week of September slightly advanced ripening producing vintage very different from that of 2013. A high volume and structure resulting from very good ripening. Well-balanced and powerful from the outset. Slight, very elegant bitterness. Ripe white fruit, flowers and nuances of wild grasses, touches of aniseed and subtle hints of stone and citrus fruits. 65% Hondarrabi zuri zerratie, 18% Riesling and 17% Hondarrabi zuri.
Undoubtedly, a great year of vintage.

Itsasmendi Artizar

A North Star with a Cantabrian nerve
At Itsasmendi, we practice sustainable viticulture aiming to integrate the vineyard harmoniously into every ecosystem and, as a result, nature gives us grapes with a distinctive quality.
Ongoing study of the ecological variables has led us to discover diverse specific situations in the vineyards.
Placing special emphasis on this richness provided by the natural environment and our vinicultural philosophy, the originality of Artizar lies in having the freedom necessary each year to choose small areas and vinicultural details that are at times imperceptible, so they can express themselves to the full in this new Txakoli.

Itsasmendi Artizar 2012
2012 was very warm, even leading to water stress in the driest plots. Due to this, for the manufacture of this vintage we turned to cooler vineyards, of the second week of maturation where the full winemaking potential of the area was better expressed. Shale and marlstone land that has provided us with a Txakoli that is wild, fatty and complex, with a great longevity.

Itsasmendi Eklipse

From the heart of a holm oak grove, a marriage of Pinot Noir and Hondarrabi Beltza
Within the framework of an R&D project in collaboration with the Council of Bizkaia and the D.O. Bizkaiko Txakolina called Agricultural and oenological behaviour of the varieties Pinot Noir and Hondarrabi Beltza.

Vineyards: Vines more than 20 years old located in Gorliz (1 ha) and Muskiz (0.75 ha), within the area known as the Cantabrian holm oak groves (clay-loam soil with a limestone origin) of the varieties Pinot Noir and Hondarrabi Beltza.

Climate: The proximity to the Bay of Biscay provides a microclimate with an average rainfall on the plots of around 931 mm/year.

Itsasmendi Eklipse 2014
Coupage of 65% de Pinot Noir and 35% de Hondarrabi beltza.

In the search for an Atlantic identity this vintage sets the course to be followed and the winery feels particularly satisfied with it.65% Pinot noir and 35% Hondarrabi beltza from our two vineyards located on calcareous land very close to the sea and in the middle of Cantabrian holm-oak woodland.

The variation in the ageing process, using new 225, 600 litre French oak barrels and a 2000 litre vat for 8 to 11 months, have resulted in a red Txakoli with a great personality. 13.7% and 5.4 of tartaric acid.
