BARBERA D'ALBA

VARIETY
Barbera 100%

PRODUCTION ZONE
The grapes for this wine come from the vineyard in the community of Vezza d’Alba .

CULTIVATION OF THE WINEYARD
On this moderately inclined hill, consisting of a soil calcareous and clayey, the low Guyot trellised system is used.

VINIFICATION
The grapes are handpicked, the berries are separated from the stalks and then, softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in thermoconditioned vats at controlled temperature (30-32°C). The maceration period is about 8 days.

MATURATION
The wine is aged for about 1 year in young, french oak barrels some of 225 litres and some of 600 litres. During this aging period, the contact between wine and wood enhances the richness of the bouquet and allows the wine components to blend together harmoniously.

SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS
A purplisch ruby red colour with a fresch bouquet of currants and fruits of the wood. A pleasant robust flavour, lively and full - bodied with appealing vanilla overtones. This wine makes a delightful accompaniment to roasts and most meats.

FOOD MATCHES
A classic wine for the entire meal, it makes a fine accompaniment for appetizers and structured introductory dishes, roasted or stewed meats and cheeses that are not too piquant.

SERVING TEMPERATURE
18 degrees ( 60°F )

CELLARAGE
Store it in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and vibrations.

PRODUCTION ZONE
The grapes used in making this wine come from the finest vineyards situated on the hills of the Roero zone to the west of Alba.

CULTIVATION OF THE WINEYARD
Low Guyot system on hills with steep inclines and terrains consisting primarily of calcareous sand.

VINIFICATION
The grapes, collected by hand, are soft pressed and the must is immediately separated from the skins and placed in temperature-controlled tanks for fermentation at a low temperature. Champenoise method at 15°C.

SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS
Straw yellow colour, fine and lasting taste with an intense bouquet of bread crust and yeast, very dry (sugar 5g/l), full and well-balanced with a long after taste.

FOOD MATCHES
Perfect as an aperitif, goes particularly well with crustacea and oysters and with all plates except sweets.

SERVING TEMPERATURE
6-8 degrees C. (43-46° F.).

CELLARAGE
It is advisable to store the bottle in a cool and airy place, far from sources of light, noise and vibrations.

SENSORY CHARACTERISTICS
Tenuous straw-yellow color, at times with a pale old-gold tone. Fruity odor with clean scents of green hazelnuts and wild chamomile. Fresh, sapid flavor with sensations similar to those offered by the odor.

FOOD MATCHES
A classic fish and seafood wine that also accompanies appetizers in general. Because of its big structure, it also complements introductory dishes.

SERVING TEMPERATURE
8-10 degrees C. (46-50° F.).

CELLARAGE
It is advisable to store the bottle in a cool and airy place, far from sources of light, noise and vibrations.

Through the sand and steep hills of Roero, which has always been considered the cradle of great wines, you will find the winery Viano Michele: for over three generations it has engaged in the continuous quest for the best quality results in the vineyard and winery.
Before Viano Michele, the current owner, two other predecessors have initiated and developed the culture of the vineyard and wine: Gallo Michele (maternal grandfather) and Viano Carlo (Dad). Today, as well as in the past generations the company has wonderfully and successfully engaged in the production of high quality Langhe and Roero.
In the village of Vezza d'Alba in the heart of the Roero country, where the hills are majestically stretching towards the sun, there are the wineries of the company that historically fosters the traditional vineyards of the area: Arneis, Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo that mature and refine in the premises of the winery.
Tradition and innovation; historical authenticity and modern technology characterize its production in full respect of nature and man.
