Cepparello IGT Rosso

CEPPARELLO is the selection of the best Sangiovese grapes sorted out of our old vineyards. Harvested by hand in mid October, crushed and destemmed, the must ferments in oak vats on the skins for over 3 weeks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is racked into French oak barrels with one third new oak where it will mature for 18 months and in bottle for 1 year before release. First vintage was 1980.

Estate wine from the 50 hectares vineyards of Isole e Olena in the heart of the Chianti Classico hills between Florence and Siena. It is a family estate: we know our soil plot by plot. We know our vineyards vine by vine. We know our wines barrel by barrel. Our goal is to produce an outstanding Chianti Classico which talks of the site and our traditional varieties, Sangiovese and Canaiolo.

Vin Santo del Chianti Classico DOC

Grapes: Malvasia 60%, Trebbiano 40%

Vin Santo is a Tuscan dessert wine produced with dateless technique, painstaking and costly: individual bunches of grapes are hand selected, dried on reed trays till February, when pressed. The juice is then placed in small barrels over the sediment of the previous wine (affectionately called “the mother”), left untopped and sealed with wax where remains unopened for 7 years before proceeding with the final blend.

ISOLE e OLENA is located in Tuscany, on the western slope of the Chianti Classico hills halfway between Florence and Siena. All the wines, including Chianti Classico and Cepparello, are produced from grapes grown on the estate's 50 hectares of vineyards. In the past 25 years they have gone through an extensive replanting project involving research on estate clonal selection, density of plantation, soil mapping and vineyard management technique placing the estate among the small group of leaders in Chianti Classico.
