The Rarest

With the passage of time, some distilleries have grown in stature whilst others have ceased trading due to vagaries of commerce. Many distilleries have come and gone since Duncan Taylor was established, the majority of which have subsequently been demolished, and now exist in name only. ‘Mystical’ distilleries such as Kinclaith, Banff and Glenugie unfortunately could not compete in the cut-throat world of modern business.

Many of these legendary names have been resurrected thanks to the foresight of the early custodians of Duncan Taylor who invested in maturing casks from these distilleries many years ago. The Rarest Collection is testament to their vision.

Whisky from these distilleries has been matured and bottled in accordance with Duncan Taylor’s standard of excellence, as single casks at cask strength with no chillfiltration or colouring, thus the whisky is in its natural form.

The Rarest Collection follows the well established Duncan Taylor concept of providing full information regarding the provenance of the casks and the product presentation reflects the rarity of this unique and exclusive collection.

Single Cask Rum

Duncan Taylor, the award winning Independent bottler, is proud to bring you the Duncan Taylor Caribbean Rum Blend. This authentic blend is created from casks, specially selected by the Duncan Taylor tasting panel, which create a classic, bold flavourable rum.

Barbados Rum
Mount Gay Rum Distillery (POT):
Settlers had been putting stills to use as early as 1667 on the Mount Gay Plantation. Lt. William Gay bought the St. Lucy estate in 1663 and in 1703 regular distillation began on the site. This expression of Mount Gay Rum is a pot still distillation of local molasses – giving a heavier rum with more flavour – which has then been aged in oak barrels.

About us

Company details

Duncan Taylor & Company has ownership of one of the largest privately-held collections of rare scotch whisky casks. The company has been “laying down” casks from premium Scottish distilleries for decades and has, in recent years, made its branded products available to whisky connoisseurs throughout the World.

Duncan Taylor has its origins in Glasgow where the company was initially a merchant and broker of Scotch Whisky casks within the Industry. Devotion to the principle of providing only the finest casks to be filled at Scotland’s leading distilleries has been a key feature of the company’s history and this tradition of building an outstanding portfolio of only the finest scotch whiskies is being maintained to this day by the current owners.

When the company moved its headquarters to the North East of Scotland, close to Speyside – Scotland’s largest whisky producing region – it also took the decision to focus on the production and marketing of its own brands and to cease the “brokering” of whisky in cask form to Distillery companies and Independent bottlers.
