Restaurateurs – particularly the young, urban scene from Europe’s and overseas’ metropolises – can look forward to the upcoming ProWein with great anticipation: The legendary lounge "urban gastronomy by #asktoni & ProWein" will be part of the program once again. A tailored offering of current trends and topics will await the culinary scene, presented by Toni Askitis, a restaurateur from Düsseldorf, influencer, and recently named “Sommelier of the Year” by Rolling Pin.
As trendy as the scene gastronomy is, the program in the lounge in Hall 4 is just as exciting; action is guaranteed! And this is, of course, due to the combination of food and wine – the cornerstone of gastronomy. But what are the basic principles of successful food pairing? What should restaurateurs pay attention to, and how can guests be engaged and thrilled? Daily workshops in the urban gastronomy lounge will provide answers and inspiration.
You haven't been working in the industry for long and are helpless in front of the range on offer at ProWein? The first workshop of the day is aimed at trade fair newcomers. Toni will tell his personal ProWein story in a relaxed and open manner, including a few anecdotes, and finally explain how best to find your way around ProWein.
„Bring your own Bottle!"
An international wine blogger or sommelier will be invited, bringing their favorite wine or a discovery from ProWein. In conversation with the visitors, the best food pairings will be explored.
Music in a glass
A purely subjective and highly popular format. Winemakers from around the world will introduce a song that pairs well with their wine. Of course, Toni Askitis will explain why he has chosen this particular wine and music combination – Music Pairing, so to speak.
The goal of the workshop is to convey and bring closer the emotions that are embedded in wine. Wine is a feeling – just like music.
Foodpairing
Wine paired with food is an important topic, especially for restaurateurs. Together with a chef, restaurateur or producer, Toni explains how wine and food are matched. The workshop participants have the opportunity to taste presented combinations and get inspired for their businesses - also or especially by unusual combinations.
