Important vineyards in Saale-Unstrut
Of course, Saale-Unstrut also has a large number of single vineyard sites. 34 to be precise. It would go too far to list them all in detail here. We will therefore concentrate on the most important single vineyards.
Freyburger Schweigenberg
Special features: This site is located near Freyburg, the center of Saale-Unstrut viticulture. The vines grow on shell limestone soils that offer outstanding minerality. The steep terraces allow optimal exposure to the sun.
Wine style: The Freyburger Schweigenberg produces elegant white wines, especially Pinot Blanc and Silvaner. These wines are characterized by fine fruitiness, minerality and freshness.
Naumburger Blütengrund
Special features: This site is located at the confluence of the Unstrut and Saale rivers and benefits from a particularly mild microclimate. The soil consists of weathered shell limestone.
Wine style: Fruity Müller-Thurgau wines with moderate acidity and aromatic Rieslings are produced here. The wines are light, sparkling and ideal for the summer.
Kaatschener Dachsberg
Special features: The Kaatschener Dachsberg is located in Thuringia near Bad Kösen. The vines thrive on shell limestone and red sandstone soils, which give the wines a special structure.
Wine style: This site is known for strong Pinot Gris with aromas of ripe fruit such as apple and pear as well as mineral Rieslings.
Gleinaer Edelacker
