De Bortoli Wines focus on sustainability has been rewarded once again, winning the award for Excellence in Sustainability in the medium to large business category at the New South Wales Green Globe Awards.
At a ceremony held on 30 October, De Bortoli Wines Environment, Health and Safety Manager, Lindsay Gullifer accepted the award on behalf of the Bilbul estate team.
Lindsay explained how significant the achievement is to the company, saying “Winning the Green Globe for Excellence in
Sustainability is recognition of the hard work the De Bortoli team have done over the last several years. It is satisfying to be recognised by your peers as a leader in sustainable practices”.
De Bortoli’s nomination was based on the company’s sustainability project titled ‘Re-engineering our Future for a Carbon Economy’. The project’s aim is in line with the company’s goal to become a zero waste wine company and focuses on minimising waste, maximising water efficiency and reducing energy consumption.
This years Green Globe Awards received the highest number of nominations in the award’s 15 year history. The 16 award categories recognised outstanding excellence, leadership and innovation in environmental sustainability across New South Wales.
The evening was hosted by the Hon. Rob Stokes MP, Minister for Environment and Heritage, and was held at New South Wales Parliament House.
