Coffee: Coffee consumption in Cyprus is high and especially in the last 5 years many coffee shops have been operating with more specialty coffees with single origin e.g. Ethiopia, Guatemala, Honduras. Also new brewing processes were introduced to the Cypriot people like cold brew coffee, which has a good amount of consumption in Cyprus.
Alcoholic beverages
Beers: As a country with a big history in beer brewing, Cypriot people consume a high amount of beer. At the same time, they have also started to explore and enjoy a wider variety of beers like pilsner, IPAs, Trappist beers. Due to the love of beer, also some microbreweries have been built, which are producing their own beers and local brands.
Gin: Gin is in fashion in Cyprus and is mainly served as an aperitif. Especially regarding gin there is a big trend where bars are named after the gin. There is also the huge amount of different gins that Cypriot bars, hotels and restaurants offer, also combining a specific gin with its tonic.
Wine: The development of the Cypriot wine in the last 10 years not only brought a huge increase in consumption of local Cypriot wine, but it also increased the interest of the guests to search more for wine. The different wine education centers are helping Cypriots in building a better understanding of the wine industry resulting in more sales. Most of the Cypriots really enjoy full bodied red wines like Cabernet Sauvignon or Malbec and Rioja sstyle. There is an increase in the consumption of Provence style rosé wines.
Cognac/Brandy: In terms of eaux de vie, the younger generation is looking for smoother and more delicate brandies in contrast to the older people who enjoy harsher spirits.
