ProWein may be returning to Düsseldorf on 15 May 2022, but wine has never really been away. Of course, some winemakers, wine brands and wine categories suffered sales losses during the covid crisis, but most of them have recovered. Others have held their ground or even made gains over the past two years. Wine has turned out to be one of the most "resilient" products to the virus.
Adaptation, it seems, is the key. And in the three years since the last ProWein in Düsseldorf, many producers in the wine world have begun to invest seriously in adapting their vineyards to climate change. Wine is tough, but it is also playful. Today, many innovative new wine products that would have been rejected at other times are suddenly welcomed with open arms. Stuart Pigott and Paula Redes Sidore will provide deep insights into these topics at the ProWein Trend Hour Tastings on 15 and 16 May from 5.00 to 6.00 pm each day (Hall 1, Room 14).

Over the past few years, growers have spent more time in their vineyards than ever before. In addition to frequent weather extremes and changing conditions in the world of wine, this has also meant significant investment to make vineyards more resilient to climate change. Whether it is a change in variety, location, altitude or soil, adaptation is key. Detailed information will be available here from early April.
Wine in a new guise
In the past, the wine industry felt bound to an often rigid and always exclusive definition of wine, but during the crisis, a serious rethink has taken place. Be it co-fermentation, hard seltzer or even non-alcoholic: New categories of hybrid drinks and inventive packaging are being received like stars in an industry that used to be deeply committed to tradition. Stuart Pigott and Paula Redes Sidore will present the best examples on stage and in the glass at the Trend Hour Tastings on ProWein Sunday and Monday. A deeper insight into this topic is provided by the Trend Article, which will be online from in April 2022.
